Hiya

So i have my Honda CD250.. my first 'big' bike. I know its not a sports bike, i dont pretend it is a sports bike and it certainly doesnt look like a sports bike.

But.

When i get up to a bit of speed on the North Circular on my way to uni everyday i seem to like getting a bit lower down to the handlebars and tuck my elbows in purely because its more comfortable at that speed, less wind resistance and just prefer leaning forward!

Is this frowned upon in the biking world if i ride my 15 year old CD250 like this on occasion when i want to? I dont do it to look cool, if anything im conscious about it when i do it, but it just feels so much better.....

Comments please Smile

Fuck what other people think, if it makes you comfier then go for it, your joints will thank you.

And the people who would frown upon it are generally the people who frown upon anything except what they do.

yeah i only tend to do it on long stretches of fast, straightish road. where i get down a bit lower outta the wind. Not sure on the legal position of it tho so always a bit paranoid of the police.

Fair enough Bittern, my 250 usually needs a gear change every so often though, bit more revvy than most bikes so needs a lot of toe flicking!

and Moonie, thats what i think too Smile thanks for the confirmation lol Thumbs Up

Not at all, being tucked in made high speed 'cruising' much easier and more relaxing on my ZZR. I can't help but chuckle at kids razzing along at 30mph, chin on the tank and feet on the pillion pegs but an hours worth of 100mph wind blast is a rather different story.

I tucked down behind the screen of my fazer on Sunday night, kept the wind off me at the faster speeds on the motorway. I also sat upright with my legs resting on the crash bars (cruiser style) to try and relieve the cramp I got in my thigh. Shocked

Rolling Eyes

I leant forward and tucked in again today on my journey and it feels so much nicer. The wind doesnt batter my helmet about so much and i dont feel like im sliding off my seat backwards because of the wind either.

next bike im hoping for a nice vfr 400 so i think would be more suitable lol, getting practice now Very Happy

As long as you are safe (and comfort is a safety issue as far as I am concerned) then it's no business of anyone else how you ride your machine.

Don't worry about it, i've been known to sit on the tank whilst riding and sometimes sit on the pillion seat Laughing

do what you like Smile

i go down on the bars of my cg when on a dual carriageway simply because it reduces wind resistance and makes me feel like im on a sports bike Laughing

plus it makes me feel like im going faster

If you are anything like I was you'll end up building up a tolerance of wind resistance after time.

When I first went on a NSL dual carrigeway when doing lessons I thought I was going to get blown off the bike off the back of the bike at 70mph !! Embarassed

But after riding a while I don't find it becomes a problem until about 130 ish, then the head goes down to the tank.

As most others have said, ride however makes you feel most comfortable.
