?55 gear leaver

Anyone else think this is bloody expensive? Slid my bike down the road at low speed this morning, and my local place said a new gear leaver would be £55 (obviously excluding labour). Opinions please?

Not entirely surprising for OEM parts.

Have you looked on ebay / the net for prices? You don't need to pay labour, do it yourself.

Is it actually broken anyways?

Yeh snapped it clean off. Just had a quick search and am getting prices of £28-£35 + P&P Do you think they would quote inc. labour or is it just more because it's the official part?

You could probably do it yourself, it's not a difficult part to replace on most bikes.

Official part and 'cos they can'. It's in stock there and then, plenty folk'll just fork out. Not everyone does tinternet.

just buy a second hand GSXR srad one off ebay and fit it yourself. they are very similar if not the same.

Thanks for the quick replies I rang them up and canceled the order, still leaving them to do the anoying jobs though (replacing indis and the 'inards' of my front break) Would the gear level be the same on the naked SV as the bikini faired one? Can only find them for the nude ones so far...

Wemoto do one mate, the end is flexible which should hopefully stop it snapping again if god forbid the same thing happens again.
About £30 if I remember correctly.

Pretty sure I do flip ones for the SV650 @ £25.00. Pretty sure I've sold a few on here.

when i crashed my first sv i bought a chrome one from the usa for like £10, it arrived and turned out to have the wrong thread on it so my change rod didnt fit. thats why i ended up trying a srad one that was like £3 and was the same.

Front brake lever about £35 from Honda, £15 off E-Bay.
Pillion grab rails - £259 from Honda.
Honda full hard luggage set from a dealer - £1200-1400.
Same luggage set from David silver spares was around £450...
