im concidering selling the r6, its nothing to do with the bike, im just a bit fed up with the styling, im basicaly going to be pileing 2k into the bike to make it mint.
so was concidering brakeing it or tracking it, or selling up for a cbr600rr 03 or a zx6r b1h. what are they like compared to the r6? i dont want anything tamer than the r6, if i could stick the r6 engine in the cbr600rr's body it would be perfect.

so how do they compare?

I don't think you'll find a massive difference in power to be honest, maybe handling and responsiveness, with the RR and B1H being FI.

I've ridden most modern 6's (c6f's, 05 R6's etc) and they don't seem to feel much quicker than an older 6, maybe i'm just not noticing it, i noticed the difference when i had a go on a 10R though, 10R's ftw.

i love the power surge i get on the r6
is the cbr as brutal as the r6? do you still get the same rush? every review ive read said theyre boring bikes... thats whats put me off the honda even though i think its the best looking

My CBR is old and borin', i've ridden f4is too and they feel just the same but lighter, the RR seems a lot more fun but not as lively as a 636 imo. Honda are good at everything they just seem to do everything almost too well to make the bike far too average to ride.

Use the two grand on trackdays and the like, or maybe start racing?

2 grand is a nice amount to start with, get your ACU licence, do trackdays for a while to up your pace a lot. A 99 R6 would be perfect if it isnt in mint condition.



Id rather improve my fast riding tenfold than pay 3 grand for something that "Accelerates slightly faster and tips in quicker maaaayte" when some sprockets and a suspension adjustment may do the same thing for about £100.

I don't think the RR is as top end biased in its power delivery. After having not ridden for a few months I took an RR out for about 40 miles.

I found it very easy to ride quickly, power delivery was smooth and the handling confidence inspiring, although it didn't give much in the way of feedback, in saying that it could just be me used to riding older bikes that constantly feel like they want to fall over.

You'd probably enjoy a 636/GSXR more imo.

the extra 37cc in the 636 makes a bigger difference than 37cc sounds.

i have 2 C models and can't fault them.

someone i know had a 636 and changed it for a new R6.
his last words to me were "i don't think i did the right thing, i really miss the kwak"

The RR's are pretty good, i've been on other 600s sports and to be honest found little difference between them.. The R6 is similar in many respects although the 07 upwards 600rr has more midrange (certainly noticable).

Some people have said they're pretty boring/tamer than the others etc. I've not found that to be the case, I like the revvy nature of 600s and the RR goes round to 15k before redline - if using the clutch properly it can be a very quick bike. If its boring and tame then you should easily be able to push it a bit more. If your pushing any sports 600 anywhere near its limits and are still finding it boring then its maybe time to get a 1000 or get on a track before you hit a nissan micra or something.

Why not get a 1000cc if you want more of a power buzz?

at first i thought the power delivery was a bit linear on the cbr but that was mainly because i came from a nsr straight to the 6 so bloody quick was just... well......... bloody quick , also i was being a bit of a wus on the throttle/revs.

after riding it for a few months now, i have noticed there are points where the power delivery goes a bit mental like 6.5k-7k onwards to 10 where it gives a good kick up the arse, then past 9.5-10k the engine note changes and it just takes off. with the 03 model not having the steering damper fitted as standard like the later models, the front does wibble a bit from time to time on hard acceleration, but i would imagine so does your early r6.

as i have not ridden other 600's to compare, imy input is not really as valid as others but just thought i would tell you what the 6rr 03 is like

i dont want more power to be honest. i just love the way the r6 makes power. i dont want a linear power delivery thats what the ducati is for, and it feels so god dam slow in a straight line after getting off the r6.

ive got a load of parts ordered in for the r6 so it seems a waste to track it.
