4 stroke - 2 stroke? Possible?

So is it possible to change my 125 4 stroke to a 2 stroke? I personally would love to have a bit more acceleration and it seems hard to get any parts for my chinese bike that will help that. So Out of interest is it hard to do? And how could I do it? Just fit a new engine? Or is there alot more to it than that? Thanks spk.

Fit a new engine, also a new carb and exhaust. New electrics to match too. If it's a cheap chinese bike, you might need to upgrade various other parts to cope with the extra power.
Considering the cost of a cheap 2 stroke whole bike, it would be a hell of a lot better idea just to buy one .

If you want to build yourself a new engine or buy a new one and see if it fits, otherwise u might be better at googling 2 stroke and 4 stroke to see the big difference in the engines. in other words no you cant .

chuck the poppet valves away and replace them with carbon reeds.

You could try putting a 4-stroke head on a 2-stroke barrel making it a 6-stroke, but you'll only be able to get it out every April the 1st

What bike is it?

Would be a good start.


Chinese bike?

So is it a scooter or a bike.

If its a bike, Have a look at the engine. Its not a C90 style engine is it? If so, then any pit bike engine will fit. you get a 70cc 2 stroke. Right up to punchy 20bhp 160cc 4 strokes.


If its a scooter, then there is more work involved. But it is possible.

You'd have to take some measurements. Then source the complete back end from something like a Piaggio typhoon 125 (2 stroke).

With the scooters, You would have to use the complete rear end, Including the transmission and the rear wheel, Exhaust, carb, the lot.

The 125 typhoon engine would be your best choice as its Air cooled.

All you would need to do is either run it on pre-mix. Or find somewhere to house a 2 stroke oil tank.

haha. Well telling you what engine it has in it will help and the bike type. Its an AJS cr3-125. It has a Honda XR engin in it. Thanks for the links and the posts guys Think I'll do a v8 (i hope you guys wern't being serious)

You want more get up and go then the best you can do is change the sprockets.
Think its less teeth at the front and more on the rear...
