Looks alot better than I expected it to actually. Never rode one though. Enjoy the bike mate. Thumbs Up Smile What made you get one of these over a sportsbike? If you don't mind me asking. Thought you'd be getting a CBR or Gixxer after the NSR.

As Danny said, price, and insurance would be another reason. (But Danny can sort that out for him! Wink )

Nice choice mate. I rode one on my DAS week, thought it was fab! (Although, its the only bike I had ridden up to that point! Laughing )

Have fun and enjoy it. Thumbs Up

Yeah same thing that's delayed me getting a big sportsbike. I'm settling for a gsxr400r for the moment while I'm saving cash for hopefully a ZX-7R. Getting the little gixxer at not much more than what I sold the NSR for so it'll do me just now and I really wanted something with fairings.

Nice bikes Thumbs Up Had one as a courtesy once Very Happy Liked it a lot, although the budget suspension wallows a fair bit at naughty speeds down country lanes Laughing Still had a right giggle on it, hit a ton easily.

Mine died and refused to start though Confused Sidestand cut-out switches are notoriously shit. Have fun! Mr. Green

Hi,

Cheers for the nice pic John Thumbs Up

wat_400...I bought it from a Honda dealer locally (didn't you read the '3 month warranty' part??? - a slight clue!!!)

ProXimaCore...You sold your NSR? Did you get the power problem fixed? And how come you never mentioned it!!!

Went for the sensible option rather than a sportsbike. A year on an NSR and I hate the riding position (maybe it ain't for me?). I hate how it's so light and drifts all over in these hellish Scottish winds. I hate having ZERO power (especially in head-winds) and no torque to speak of.

I had a good think about my priorities too. Which I think a lot of people with 125's should do, but don't. It's fine to dream about a Blade or an R1 - let's face it who wouldn't? But I'm following my head rather than my heart here. My main use for a bike is transport. Getting to work and college. Yeah, weekend blasts round the B roads too!!!

I've spent a good 8 hours or so on an ER-5. I like it. Alot. I like the naked looks, it has enough power to keep me happy for another year or so, and I feel my riding will benefit from riding it rather than a powerful sportsbike. I'm sure the more experienced riders will take some comfort in hearing someone like me being sensible!!!

And yeah, a student, so money is an important factor, monthly insurance costs, fuel bill and so on. The ER-5 in my book is the right choice for my next bike - good looks, good performance (nice torque!), does what I want it to do and more.

Like I say, it's the right choice for me, I feel. If people want a sportsbike (and have that kind of money) then go for it. It's your life and your decision.

That's all I have to say about that!

Ride safe peeps

Mark

Good man! Thumbs Up I like to see people that don't give in to peer pressure and buy the latest hot-poop sports machine.

You have a bike you like and no-one can put you off it. I like it! Smile

Yeah it left me last night. Got £1300 for it as advertised. Put it on biketrader's website and then got a call 1 hour later. Not bad eh? Thumbs Up Wink

Sorted every problem before I put it up for sale. Wrong fuse size was causing the electrics problem and they kept blowing. Brakelights seemed to just right themselves, don't know if it was due to something I done or not. Even remade the seat vinyl myself for him. The seat had two tears in it and I didn't want to sell it with it looking like that.

Good to hear you making a sensible choice though. Thumbs Up You'll need to bring the bike out sometime and let me have a look.

Theres a lad that rides round town on an ER5 with a Micron race can, and Renthal MX bars. He likes his wheelies and brisk acceleration, to slightly in excess of the speed limit Smile
It's bloody loud, but it actually sounds quite good 2! One of the best sounding motorcyles ive ever heard was a mate of a mate's Honda CBX750 with a nice 4-1 pipe. That bike sounded great, and went well too!
Ive ridden the ER5 not for years (DAS) but i quite liked it. The finish and suspension are not up to the CB500 standard, but the motor is smoother around town and less lumpy at low revs. It does lose out a bit to the top end of the CB, but then the CB500 is irritating/amusing with its lumpy feel at less than 3.5k and then a sudden mad top end rush at 8k!
