Hi

I wanted to ask you guys a few things about tunning a Zip. I know its a 4 stroke and it wont go much faster than it does standard but i still wanna do it. On flat it goes 32~mph. I thought about changing the exhaust, air filter, rollers and jets in the carb. Will it go 40mph with the parts i just listed? And the bike is derestricted but the CDI isnt and i wont be derestricting it again and pay £200 for the new one after 1 month of riding. So if you know anything about tunning mopeds please post here.

Cheers

Must be an ET4 because an ET2 is a 2 stroke.

The Zip50 4t will do 40-45mph if derestricted properly.

Theres no exhaust restriction, just make sure its got a 78main jet, remove the washer from the variator and cut the CDi... (dont cut it more than 3mm deep and seal it afterwards)

not it wont, a 2-stroke 50 de-restricted can barely do 50, how do you expect a 4-stroke to do that ? only way its doing 40 is downhill

as spitfya said if you want a faster 50 bike buy a 2-stroke or put a 2-stroke lump in there , a typhoon 50 engine or a zip sp engine should fit asumming the 4-strokes and 2-strokes have the same mounts, spitfya or chives mite be able to confirm it Wink

40-45mph will be shown on the dash, a well derestricted 2t zip will go off its 50mph clock with much quicker acceleration than the 4t.

I know theres a difference between dash speed and real speed, but as the riders reference point is the dash then that's what I base the speed on. We sell loads of zips, and 90% of them we derestrict. Ive never known one not to show 40mph and 45 in ideal conditions ie no wind, average rider weight, no topbox etc..

At the last piaggio dealer meeting they unveiled a new 4 valve high compression 4stroke 50cc engine to be first used in the new vespa sport 50 and its got more bhp than the old 2 stroke engine, apparantly its a proper little rev machine! So if its as good as the hype hopefully all the piaggio 50cc 4t will get it.

think thats a case of seeing to belive, they said similar things about the pure jet fuel injected bikes and there not as good as the old 2t,
imo a 4t ped is under powered and over weight, and the best thing to do to gain more speed would be to sell it for a less expensive 2t or ... swap the lumps

even if its better than the old 4-strokes its not going to be a touch on the 2's
