Next Stop on your Brat Pack Filmography Education...

'The Outsiders', 'About Last Night', 'Class', and 'St. Elmo's Fire'.

'Pretty In Pink' was sentimental Dog Dirt so I'd give that 'un a miss and go for the less popular (but infinitely better) 'Some Kind of Wonderful' instead (and Mary Stuart Masterson is a million times better looking that Molly Ringwald) Thumbs Up

Tme to dust off the John Hughes DVD's Wink

...being a nostalgic sort...

Young Guns
Lost Boys
Ferris Buellers Day Off
Stand by Me
Goonies
Flight of the Navigator
CaddyShack
Fletch
BMX Bandits

There's a couple that 'feel' like the 80's. 'Highlander' was a blinder, no, a masterpiece, but lacks the flouresent socks that are becoming required for this thread.

i was born in 1985 but watched in about 3 years ago on the bbc. really nostalgic and i recognised some famous actors in there too. some of the films that someone recommended above are great films thinking of it.

karate kid is also quite good.

I was with you 'til 'Flight of the Navigator' Harold - Worst 'singalong' use of a Beach Boys track in a film EVER!! Shocked Wink

Leaving out the mainstream stuff here are an additional few off the top of my head that might make us old 'uns pay a visit to amazon...

Airplane
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
48 Hours
Stakeout
Teenwolf
War Games
Escape From New York
Youngblood
Evil Dead II
Footloose
Porky's
She's Having a Baby
Running Scared

Cool

I came in here thinking the original post was a bit daft then Ive read on and realised how some classics can skip some of us by. I only got round to The Shining and Bladerunner the other week!!

Dont forget Tremors and The Naked Gun.

I completely agree with trains planes and autos. It seems I cant watch one of those films any more without looking at John Candy and someone saying 'what a shame'. The combo of Candy and Martin together would be like getting Jim Carrey (at the top of his game) and Will Ferrell in the same movie, fantastic but something you wouldnt see!

I have all of these! With the exception of Caddyshack, which I just don't get...I know it's supposed to be funny, but just, well, meh, really...Animal House is the same.

No worse than Oliver Reed and Alan Bates in Women in Love.

That's different. Mr.Reed always had a certain irrepressible something about him, he's on my very short list of men I'd consider. Hmm, his son was always rather interesting as well now I come to think about it. I may need to go away and rethink my claim to being strictly vanilla-hetty Thinking
