Im having fun with Vista right now, i need some help, this OS is like a pit of sinking sand.

Internet explorer stops working when it feels like it, usually when im in the middle of trying to upload something or do something important.

Next i keep getting this error appear when browsing in C:drive...im sure its a fuc*ing virus but ive no idea what from.

What the hell is cycguader and ieguarder.dll?!?!

I found it in the Cdrive but dont recognise it.

ive found its the luck of the draw when you install it as to how much it fucks up...

so far, after 6 months on this install, all ive had go wrong is that i cant preview photos, only fullscreen them.

fingers crossed.

i did have the same problems as you, and many more, and ended up installing the OS again, seems to have sorted it... kinda.

Do you have Service Pack 1?
If not then get it as it sorts a lot of issues on Vista.
Thumbs Up

Can i put the Vista disc in and repair the OS without loosing everything?

There is this file in my C:drive called, sysguarder. In there is a file called sysguarder.dll
I clicked it and it went straight to google.com?!
That seemed odd
I cant delete it as i need permission, but ive granted that and it still wont go. It seems to be part of the problem with this freezing issue.

I have never had any problems with Vista at all and bought it not long after it came out. Been using it for at least a year.

XP was completely removed on my system before installing Vista.

for files you can't delete, install MoveOnBoot and it'll allow you to delete files before the OS loads.

Just remember to be careful with deleting files Wink

If you think it's a virus, try https://housecall.trendmicro.com/ it's free, online and always up to date

I cant seem to get far enough on internet explorer to try that scan.

This folder called sysguarder can't be deleted.
The weird thing is, if i click on the folder it takes me to internet explorer and google, which isnt my home page.
If i type the words sysguarder into the search, the letters dissapear. Confused
Crap

Looking for Sysguard, you get :-

Quote:
Name: RogueAntiSpyware.Sysguard
Threat Level: High

Description: RogueAntiSpyware.Sysguard generates malfunctionality on the system by disabling some Windows features. It displays fake alerts in malware payloads in order to persuade users into buying the rogue antispyware products.
Removal: This infection can be removed using Spyware Doctor.

from https://www.pctools.com/mrc/infections/id/RogueAntiSpyware.Sysguard/

If it's causing a problem browsing to that page, here's the direct download link for Spyware Doctor :-

https://www.pctools.com/mirror/sdsetup.exe

I would have attached it here, but it's 19Mb.

Seems pretty spot on Shaggy, one run of the doctor thing and it came up with that infection.
Thing is it's now asking me for £30 to buy it to use it. I dont have that. Sad

mate if your not using wireless, then when the computer is booting up go into safe mode (keep hitting f8) BUt make sure you slect with networking.

This will only load a basic set of drivers and startup programs you should then be able to access the trendmicro link left for you above.

I think AVG will install in this mode as well, and before people jump on me for saying AVG they bought over a company called EWIDO which had the best antispyware program I have seen.

you may also be able to delete these files under safe mode Wink

I love vista I use the x64 version though so I dont have a virus or spyware problem as yet. Wink

Good luck. Thumbs Up
