Council workers might not get paid

It appears some councils even have their payrolls in Icelandic banks:

Got to assume they are not stupid enough to bank all their money in one place so I have to ask the question, just how much money are the councils holding back for a rainy day?

MrsHippy works for the local district council and they have £7.5m in one of the Icelandic banks. I just hope that they aren't one of the councils that has thier payroll out there or things could get interesting at the end of the month!

Perhaps even more worrying is the fact that many of these same councils were actually warned against investing in Icelandic institutions - one assumes for this very reason.

Apparently they were recommended by the Government first, before some Lib Dem chap brought it up in Parliament that these banks might not be a good idea.

Indeed, a Data Entry Clerk works 48hours a week and gets 15k a year if they're lucky, yet the same job for the council does 35hours is a "Senior Information Input Analyst" and gets 28K a year. Lots of money not a lot of use.
