Is there any reason as to why you have to pass through these towns? , I generally used the hey that route looks interesting and went down it in the general direction of my destinations. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Your route misses some great roads,
Namely the N202 north of Nice
the N85 between grenoble and Grasse
Also the N260 Andorra run ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. In the end, your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching. |

Any other roads not too far off my current route I should aim to head down. The whole thing is pretty flexible as to where and when so all suggestions welcome ____________________ Current Bike: Suzuki Bandit N600 '99,

If you've got 114 days to tour Europe, why not go to Eastern Europe, too, esp Croatia?
Or, as it's summer, head up to Scandi to see the nightless nights (the sun doesn't set at all in the summer). ____________________ My other bike's a Monster... |

I presume because he has the GF on the back, which limits distance he can do per day,
While single folk and solo tourists can cram in 1000s of miles in days the ones on the back won't be very appreciative. BMW man took his wife last time he did a tour of Spain just like me took him 35 days due to the constant need to stop for female pillion. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. From what I can see your riding a 50? (your signature)
That could be a problem, I want to do Lands End to John Oh Goats ( ) And I ride a 125. So I'm not going to bother until I ride a nice 500/600, with passengers you'll need the power to make up time and such.
I'm going to advise a radio kit, so you can talk to her over the noise of the road and the bike etc, in case she needs a pee or other anoying girlfriend issues on the back of the bike =P
Also how about stopping overnight to have a nice rest, or spend two nights and spend a day in certain towns? I'm sure your passenger will appreciate days off the bike.
Have you also considered how to transport clothes and things? ____________________ Current Bike: Lifan GY125

I think he posted about 4 months ago asking which bigger bike should I get for this trip , and the concensus was either a bandit , a VFR , or an transalp/varadero or the mighty africa twin....
But pillions have added problems in that the added weight kills MPG , which means your 20 litre ish tank or 26 litre on the AT only gives 3/4 to 2/3 of the range.. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. That's planning ahead.... why plan a route over 2.5years before you even plan on going? As others said your initial route looks odd, it's just straight lines to destinations of no obvious interest, the best way it to pick a general direction and travel towards it via the most interesting looking roads you can, if they don't take you where you planned you go where they do. Taking the same route in and out of Italy would be a bit of a waste, and you're virtually just passing straight through the alps rather than travelling along through them into Austria which would be much better IMO.
I'm looking at the possibility of taking a month of work nextyear and in that time I would hope to get to spain, top half of Italy, maybe Greece, Romania, upto Estonia, Finland and back down through Norway. Plenty of time. |
