well, basically after my last post and my first service everything seemed to be alright, unfortunately, the reason for my bike to keep dying at traffic lights was the idle screw was to far in, and it was idling at barely 1000rpm.

simply the service mechanic did not discover this. I found this out by by reading the checklist in the manual and came across the right idle speed then, but i had bought the bike from new and run it in like that presumably.

now,

my main concern is that when i start up from cold, i hear this odd tapping noise, this was not uncommon when i first got the bike, sounded like it came from under the left hand fairing, assuming it was the cdi or something.

my new concern is that the noise has gotten louder at cold start, and dissapears sometime during the warm up.

i thought id give it a mention because im not very experienced with the new 600's, in fact anything with electrics for carbs is a mystery to me and i could be missing something very obvious, or the run in could have been hindered by maybe the low idle speed?

would apreciate any feedback or advice,

thanks in advance,
Gary

When you hear the noise, pull the clutch in and see if it goes away.

it's a typical kwak thing, just warm it up and don't hoon it until the noise has gone.
there is a secondary injector in the air box that ticks away, i can hear mine more when it's cold.

ok, so i went and checked a few things and it seems that

1. the noise doesnt go away when i pull the clutch in.

2. it does seem to get faster when i put a little of the throttle on

3. it doesnt always do it, from cold its been what seems kind of random

but cheers for the info, i know really im worrying because everything seems so noisy engine wise, i assume thats because the exhaust is silenced to something silly like 60db's

but i feel assured, thanks for the response guys, let me kno if you think of anything else,

Cheers,
Gary

if it sounds like a spark jumping or similar that will be the injector in the air box. some are noisy but nothing to worry about.
it's because there is only a couple of thin bits of plastic between that and you.

right ok, i am wondering as to why they are there, can you enlighten me? i mean i thought i saw another 4 further down, does that mean the zx has 8? if so is that for higher revs or what? cheers for the info thou, seems thats probably what it is, seeing as it goes away when its warm, iv been playing it safe as to wait until the the temps up and keeping under 6k, will probably continue to do that

cheers,
Gary
