The reason I'm asking is that I used my 1 pce for the first time in over a year yesterday. I forgot what a pain in the arse they are to get off and on, especially if you just need to pop out from work!

Putting the good old 2 pce on again this morning and it was like slipping into a pair of comfy old shoes. God I am getting old!

I'm a two piece guy (mainly because I'm too fat to have a one piece!) and its a mixture of leather and textile.

I've started zipping them together and it feels nice and snug (I'd say a bit like a one piece, at a guess).

You just can't beat slipping in to leather. Laughing

Two piece is my preference for two reasons:

1. Ease of use.
2. The girlfriend loves the look of leather jeans and a t-shirt, and who am I to argue. Twisted Evil

2 piece is also a safer option on the road than a 1 piece! Cool

2 Piece Alpinestars for me. I rarely used to zip them together until a friend of mine decided to slide up the tarmac at 30ish wearing similar gear. Unfortunately he hadn't attached the jacket with the bottoms and his jacket slid up and he suffered nasty gravel rash to his back.

5 seconds to zip 'em up - make it part of your ritual Thumbs Up

2 piece most of the time. I'm not the shape for 1 piece and the peeing thing is a consideration... all you ever hear in the ladies loo at Boxhill is someone cursing about their one-piece. Laughing

Textile bottoms when I'm just going down the shops.

Car when it's raining. Thumbs Up

Haha, I guess it makes a change from make-up and whatnot. Very Happy

I have a bit of a mix of gear at the moment, it's what you get from having no money and being a student!! I 'borrowed' my mums leather trousers (Yeah, but they fit.. Embarassed ) about two years ago! I got a nice new Richa jacket for a 2-piece set at the NEC in November which I'd love to get the trousers for!! A pair of Sidi Vertebrae took a dent out of my student loan cheque last year hehe.

Well after my first year of biking i've only really owned 2-piece leathers and I wore them all year round. If it was raining pretty heavy I just wore thin waterproof trousers and waterproof coat over the top of them. Now that I think about it, it never rained all that much when I've been out on the bike. I think I got caught once without the waterproofs in a heavy downpour. That wasn't much fun.

The leathers I have just now are your standard black leathers. Not sporty ones which I shall be buying before summer comes. But it will be a 2-piece definetely. I take my bike everywhere and I don't really fancy sitting at my mates or at the local pub stuck in a 1-piece race suit. I think the leather trousers and t-shirt look good aswell.

I ride all year so i have a set of textiles which have removable thermal lining and a jip to link the trousers to the jacket.
Thinking about leathers for the summer. But being student money is a little tight.

Bit of both. I have a leather and a textile jacket, but tend to stick to the textile (warmer). I usually stick with the waterproof trousers or a pair of green trousers from the bottom half of a chemical protective suit! Very warm. I'm buying proper leather trousers when I get my new bike. Does anyone know where I can get erm.........smaller trousers as I am only just over 5ft tall! Embarassed Cheers Thumbs UpMr. Green

2-piece leathers myself Thumbs Up

I find them much more handy, especially as I'm a lazy bugger who would use the 'hassle' excuse far too many times to avoid wearing a 1-piece. Confused Best thing is you can go out somewhere on the bike and still look okay in a bikers jacket and jeans, whereas if you had a power ranger outfit on you'd look and feel a prawn if it was a non-biker event. I've only used the trousers when out for a fast ride etc, and that's only because of the knee sliders if I'm really honest Laughing

Same here matey !
My Richa top is a size 10,and the leather bottoms are a size 8.
I got them from Thunder Road in bridgend, Wales.
£140 for the jacket, and £160 for the trousers.
Or you can get ones custom made, have a look at the links page.

I used to be one of those idiots that you see with T-shirt and shorts on my bike. Sometimes just shorts and sometimes jeans and a jumper. For the cold weather I did wear a coat as well, that was until one night I came off in my jeans and a fleece top. Mad
Had a bit of gravel rash all the way down my right side, and broke every rib on the left. Sort of encouraged me to start wearing a touch of protection. Don't think I'd go on a bike without protective gear ever again.

Well it's 2 piece all the way for me. I got a silver and black leather jacket and I was a bit disappointed that there were no trousers to match it at the time. But thinking about it now the black leather trousers were the best bet as the go with my Textile jacket as well. All belstaff gear so both jackets zip to the jeans which is good Thumbs Up. I'm definitely going to get textile trousers soon as well because sliding them over my jeans is easier when going to work and stuff.

How do you come to that conclusion?

If you think they are so safe would you care to look at the big hole in my back which was caused buy a zip breaking on 2 piece and the jacket pulled up.

2-piece leathers for me 80% of the time, occasionally swapping the leather jacket for a textile one I 'aquired' off Tin when the weather's not healthy. I also use denim jeans when I'm not going too far or don't want to be standing round in leather jeans all day.

I haven't got time to answer it in full now, it will take too long to cover it in detail, hopefully I will do it tomorrow, but suffice to say that for the road a 2 piece (in the majority of cases depending on the quality of garment you are wearing) will substantialy reduce the chances of your injuries being made worse whereas a 1 piece will increase the chances of the injury being made more severe. I have covered it in some detail before on other forums.

But on the other hand, perhaps I should learn to keep my mouth shut and keep my last 15 years of research to myself Neutral
