Using 2 telephone extension cables for the internet

I have recently changed ISP's.

I'm gonna have to use 2 telephone extension cables from the BT telephone socket to my router.

Will this effect the connection or anything?

Not the best idea. Results can vary. Try to get good quality extensions and not the cheapest you can find.

you can pickup 10metre ones with a filter in for about £10 you may see connection dropouts if you go much longer.

Better off hard-wiring a new socket where you want it from the master one.

The master BT socket is in the kitchen. My parents want the phone on the other side of the kitchen where it used to be. So i need one extension for that.

The router is going to be upstairs in my bedroom, so i need to also connect this to the phone line, so i'd need a 2nd extension. I don't want to use wireless as i personally think its shit, and the 3 times ive used it in different homes its been shit.

I've been thinking though, and i may just leave the router in the kitchen next to the main BT socket, and use a 20m ethernet cable running upstairs to my PC.

The 20m Ethernet would by far be the better option.

Powerline is the way forward, I picked up a set of 200mbs advent adapters off of ebay for about £30, it works amazingly I really can't fault it.

10m extension is fine, I'm using a 10 meter cable at the moment to get to the router from the hallway, we lost around 300kbs from it, which when on an 8meg line isn't noticeable.
