Has anyone used this company? Are they half decent?
I've done a few quotes through thebikeinsurer, and MCE seem to be very very very cheap, for example 600quid fully comp with the next closest being 4grand?

They are good for me. Always give the cheapest quote and allow me to add and remove bikes from my multibike policy any time I want to.

I would say, though, that if you are going to take out insurance with them do it through their website rather than a price comparison site. The price comparison site always take their cut...

I am with MCE, no probs with them
Only dealings i have had were to upgrade insurance from CG125 to a hornet, no probs at all, £150 for 6 months, orig price was £150 for the year, so decent price.

Worth noting that the breakdown included is only roadside or lift to nearest garage, upgrade if you want a better breakdown service

They're cheap, but make sure you read the terms and conditions of your policy. A mate of mine has lost a lot of no claims because they failed to tell him that his first policy was a scooter policy, and that his second one was a 125cc policy, so he couldn't put anything else on there, despite the fact that is not what he asked for and wasn't informed of it.

Hi,
MCE are usually one of the cheapest....
but they will screw you if you need to change the policy in any way & dont get it on installments unless your certain your gonna have the policy for the full year.
insured a couple of bikes with them & found out the hard way,
cheers,
GAZ

I was going to do a thread in a few days at how fokin shite they are.

In Short:
Call's arent recorded properly, mostly not at all.(so if you need proof of anything it "wont be available")

Their customer services are shyt as they put you on hold for hours and then mostly cut your call off, they also never ring you back no matter how many times they promise and swear they will.

My policy was disputed as they say I never declared a personal injury claim from my most recent 'official' crash with a previous policy but admitted they don't know this for a fact because there is no call to check against.

I'm in the process sending them a letter canceling the policy, demanding a full refund and will be sending copies of everything to Trading Standards and related Ombudsman.

Anyone would think they're connected with Bennetts...

Was with them on my Moped and my VFR, couldn't fault them. They couldn't do the best quote on my 636 though.

flat tyre at mates house, rang them up and was told if they couldnt fix at roadside they would take me to blackpool honda (closest garage). I asked if they could take me home and was told "no, your cover is only roadside or lift to nearest garage"

Rode it back using a combination of tyre repair spray and a track pump incase Smile

Inconsistency is IMO worse than just not doing it across the board

Their pricing structure just seems very suspect which made me question how good the company actually is, i find mce and hrinsurance are cheapest for me by far. But im slightly dubious about an r1 for 500 or so quid at 22 , no ncbs, not long passed and a slight ehem ban lol. But hey if its insured its insured i guess. Very Happy

I don't recommened them.

Their prices are very cheap but their aftersales and customer service? Non-existent, forget any customer help after your deal is done.

They have great tendancy to mistyped bike details in the statement which would have an adverse consequence if you were to make a claim and,for example, found your bike to be a different value / year / cc to the accounted description.

They also have reluctancy to refund you for policy cancellation, which is also signified in the form of continuous hanging up, requiring a marathon phone calls before anyone pays attention to you.

I use hrinsurance and have since I've had all of my 600s. Customer service is good - its all in the UK and i've always went through to Scotland and never been in a queue for long either.

Only problem I've got a the moment is my bike isn't currently showing on askmid.com which ties into the same database that the police use for ANPR checks. If it isn't showing there then you have the chance of being pulled over and having to explain to Mr Plod that you have insurance but it isn't showing, not the conversation you want to have when you have actually paid for insurance...

Rofl, check your policy documents, they gave me a quote on completely the wrong details, and not even typos. I've gone through about 3 sets of policy docs

I wouldn't worry too much, my car is on there but my bike isn't. I have been pulled by Police and they've always said I've had insurance.

Coincidentally, I've pulled (in my car!) at a checkpoint twice now for no insurance, it's not until they do a live check they see I have it.

Ha, talking of MCE, i got a letter today asking for 166 quid from MCE for Cancellation of policy.

First of all, i never even cancelled the policy, second what the fuck is the 166 quid for numptys.

tried to get through to them for 40 minutes and kept getting hung up on, IMO avoid them.

Actually that's a point, they wanted £46 randomly and they couldn't even tell me what it was for. They never got it, and they never pursued me for it.

Well ive had a policy with them for well over a year, i renewed in auguest and it was all fine,
then randomly got a call a week ago saying, whats the value of the bike, i confirmed the valve of the bike and stated, it hasnt changed.

Ive been getting new policy documents and Finsure docs through the door ever since, total retards.

Never had a problem being insured by them, but as above their quote system seems to be pretty dodgy.
Had on line quotes from them and they've said "we'll see if we can match that"... eh?... it was your own quote. They couldn't match that and tried to blame it on me, saying it was because I'd tried a few different quotes (with and without business, TPO, TPFT etc).
For that, a Thumbs Down from me too for them trying to blag it/not knowing what they were talking about.

MCE are local to me and i had loads of crap with them a few years ago.
never been there since.

also i find a lot of companies automatically renew your policy and take payments.
watch MCE with this as my other half had her policy continue and she found that they didnt change her address so she got no reminder.
