My family (3 adults including me and 2 children) are looking for a holiday to spain, had a shit 2 years and we bloody need it Laughing . My old dear hasnt a clue what shes looking at, and my dads so layed back hed fall over, so it needs to be us to sort it. Prefer southern Spain, Alicante' or there abouts. Im not really sure what im looking for. Preferably flights and accommodation all in one. Reason im posting on here is i know a lot of you are in the know on holidays etc. Can someone please help me fish out a 'good deal' if you have a spare few mins. Would appreciate it. Thankyou. Thumbs Up

Go to travel agents and find last minute deals. That's about all there is to it as far as being "in the know on holidays", you've just got to go and find the good deals. If you're just looking to go somewhere hot for a week or two then you should have plenty of choice. Thumbs Up

www.thefirstresort.com

Will give you an idea of prices and resorts.

At this time of year I would be more inclined to head for the islands than the mainland, Balearics (Ibiza, majorca, Menorca) or Canaries (Tenerife, lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura) cos the weather is likely to be a bit better.

Of all the online travel agents who offer only their own packages I usually find firstchoice www.firstchoice.co.uk come out cheapest.

Once you've picked your resort and/or hotel but before you actually book it do a google for tripadvisor or holiday watchdog, both of which have reviews from previous customers for a lot of places.

Search on Salou,(costa dorada) It's a great place for everyone.

Portadventura is the theme park there with about 2/3 days worth of attractions day and night. (great for all ages)

Right next to it is a water park.

Beautiful big beach with sand sculptors.

On Sunday nights the whole bay is presented with a massive fireworks show.

Plenty bars, clubs, restraunts, mini golf and markets..

Barcelona is an hour or so away with places like the Newcamp ,zoo and Goudi structures.(excuse some of the spelling)

Alicante > benidorm > Sticky Vicky > fun for all the family.

(Just google her or watch her on youtube)

Travel agent is your best bet for deals and its a face to talk too rather than just randomly typing stuff into expedia.

She's 70 year old and been doing that in Benidorm since package holidays kicked off in the 70's.

Imagine your great grandma doing that Laughing

My mum has a place in Almerimar.

It's quite a quiet place. Hardly anyone there. I had the pool to myself when I stayed.
(Except for the chick who worked in Maccadonna but I was too shy with my flabby white chest to approach natives)

My mother doesn;t need to rent out the place, so it's empty most of the year.

This is the way with most of the apartments - maybe take a crow bar?

Almerimar is good if you just want to chill. A few bars, restuarants near by, pretty much constant sunlight, etc.

However, it is pretty dull if you want to do more than that.

Almeria would be a better place: much more of a city vibe, with Roquatas de Mar and El hijo near by.

Lots of Spanish chicks walking by for you to go "cor blimey", ped bois without lids, McDonalds and the rest of it.
Not too far to the mountains if you rent a car.

It all depends what you're after. If you go with the wrong attitude, much of Southern Spain seems quite dull.

All depends what you're after.

Even better, if you want a bit of quiet is a place called La Pineda, got a waterpark and regular buses to Port Aventura, but a very lovely beach.

I know this thread is old, but anybody thinking of a holiday, don't forget to factor in the awful euro exchange rate!!!
