Good news

Shame it's shite supermarket fuel though. Hopefully other retailers will follow suit. Should of happened a long time ago as barrel prices have been on the downturn for a while.

Waaahey, aren't we lucky, bargain price of just £1 per litre!!! Very Happy

Thank you Gordon Brown, you're not such a wanker really. Rolling Eyes

Now we also need diesel to go back to being cheaper than petrol, another 20p or so off petrol, and then they can start doing something about the road tax.

might be cheap supermarket stuff but i'm off to fill up just to see how much difference it makes in a tank.

so does anyone know what the difference is between supermarket fuel and other fuel. i always thought supermarkets were supplied by BP etc

That's good news as the Shell station opposite Asda does track the Asda price. So that means decent fuel (with the additives/detergents/etc.) for a realistic price Razz

I found this out a bit back. The supermarket fuel does come from the same refineries but just before it goes into the tanker the additives/detergents are put in (like the mixer tap in bars that serves you coke/lemonade/soda/water/etc.). The supermarket fuel doesn't get the same mix as the big name brands.

Thumbs Up

Varies between supermarkets, but on the whole stuff you get from supermarkets is from exactly the same refineries as the stuff from places like BP/Texaco/Shell/etc.

Yeah ... wot Ste said.

Be good when they get it down to something *reasonable* where we're not actually being fucked up the arse for buying petrol, practically more than everybody else in the world.

I think this was the governments idea...

To put it so far over a pound so when it eventually drops to under a quid we will be satisfied where as 5 years ago this would have been extortionate.

I know it's not the government directly affecting the prices but if people are happy with a quid then they will be happy as its more than they were getting a year ago.

Thumbs Up

Should think so too, oil is now at $70 a barrell.

It was last at $70 in September 07, the price of petrol then was at 92 or 93p.

But the pound is much weaker now, trading at about 1.75 rather than 1.99 Smile

I do to! But I also remember, some retailers went metric and put the price up so people wouldn't notice!!

Same thing happened in Ireland when it went Euro.

Yeah, but then you've got to use more fuel actually getting to an ASDA with a pump - negating any saving.

Yeah, I've travelled three miles to save 3 p per litre. Them is shit odds, my friends.
