Not as kool as Lewks but it's a start. I need to plaster over the long gap with the wires so i brought some foam stuff that's meant to fill gaps, then i'll sand down & repaint. Anyone used it?
Foam stuff
Awating a cabinet which will hold all the AV stuff but PLAY.com haven't delivered it yet, it's nearly been a month. Confused
Never done anything like this before, just learned from forums, what would you do without the internet!

Today i got some trunking which makes things 1000x easier & was just the right fit which was good. Shoved all the wires in & then started to plaster, never tried plastering before but it's quite fun. Only a narrow gap to cover & it went quite well, done a few layers now & should be ready to sand down tomorrow. I don't recommend using that foam stuff (No More Big Gaps) it's really messy & doesn't go as hard as plaster.

Tested the lights to make sure everything was still connected, all good so far.

Having trouble finding the right colour paint tho. Sad

I've managed to do quite a lot since last posting, fitted new lights, flooring, posh black light covers which look quite cool but it's a bugger getting the cover on as you have to line up those pesky screws blindly. The wall hiding the wires has been plastered & painted to the nearest colour, still a bit off mind...
still need my leather sofa & weird looking pc desk which will be in the next few weeks hopefully. Oh & Alphason av stand. Smile

First time i've done any of this so i'm pleased with meself, the lighting wasn't as hard as i thought but the flooring was a pain.

Yer cheers for them, they're brilliant for under £15 each!

Little update, added a tv cabinet from Ikea, i wanted a black 1st but this one breaks up all the black colours i'll be having. Quite big so i removed the legs which made it too tall. Smile

Think you have the same 5.1 system as my parents.

They are in the process of completely redoing their living room, been a nightmare living here, but finally everything is plastered after having various walls knocked down, ceilings taken down for re-wiring. Bit of paint has started to make it look good.

Icing on the cake is when Sky HD gets installed on Friday. Mr. Green

All the wires going across the room are from the PC, they'll be gone once i get a stand & i'll feed them along the wall.
The only wire that'll be going from the TV is the headphone jack, unless i find a way to connect it to the Dvd player to play through the tv.

Jonb, get some pics up. Always good to know what it looked like at the very start.

Just a couple of shots with the lights on, still gotta fix one to the t.v but it's a right pain getting them all level.

That looks nice, I would have a small media pc for watching iplayer etc and for scrolling through a music library.

Get a ps3 man! for blu ray alone your Tv and eyes will thank you, it also has better media capability than the 360.

is that a 2.1 system you have? you think about mounting those speakers into the corners of the room? should give you a better surrond sound size. but I guess your always in the sofa?

Karma Thumbs Up

Not sure what type it is, 2.1 etc, i know it's got 6 speakers including a sub & that's it lol.

The screen seems high from the photos but it's just right & it's tilted all the way down.

it does seem odd to have them at that height in any room other than the kitchen.

having said that, any modern house/build/electrics will be at stupid heights ... plugs miles from the floor and light switches quite low - it's to be wheelchair friendly - looks crap though and can be a pain to get things looking good with wires.

louve the lounge though mate, you've done a lot of good work in there - wish i had the money to get my own place and do that sort of thing.

5.1 then (5 speakers, and 1 subwoofer).

Agreed with the PS3 statement... Blu-ray! Cool

If its a 5.1 then I imo would mount the 2 front speakers in the corners of the red wall facing a slight angle down into the room this will help with the surrond signal and give you a wider arc.

Have your rears at head hieght and IF you can I alway find the dub behind the sofa gives you a better boom Cool

Hook it all up with optical to your NEW ps3 Razz and jobs a good un!

Loving your work

Wink
