Why is the majority of this country so stupid!?

I seem to find more and more stupid people every day, its kind of rediculous.

An example, my assistant manager, 26yo woman, 2 kids, trusted in running the shop 5 days a week, fair enough running a shop isnt the most mentaly challenging work but i thought this was general knowledge even to a 5 year old!

She picked up a pair of cufflinks with this :

please tell me im not the only one finding more and more people are totaly.....thick/incompitent/stupid?

It may have ceased to exist as a country of its own but the flag still represents scotland whether it was in the past or the present, i assumed that would be basic knowledge to anybody who had lived in great britain for 26 years, i could put names to flags for a fair few countries around the world with my 18 years of life.

This is kind of besides the point i was trying to make, i chose the flag as an example but theres loads of other things that supprise me, things that i take for granted knowing yet people dont ave a clue about, and its not like im some grade A student, i got mediocre GCSE's and failed entirely at college. I think ive just highlighted a major flaw in our educational system aswell now

Looks like she lives in Essex - despite the fact that the whole of England is ridden with gobby Scots extolling the awesome nature of their homeland (while not actually living there) you can hardly refer to Scotland as her surroundings, especially when it is represented solely in some cufflinks.
