Alright, its not art in the usual sense.

Im a big fan of Dan le sac vs Scroobius Pip, no doubt not many will have heard of them, yet many more than I think will have. Well, in the current climate (economic, actual and social) I think this song of theirs is fucking perfect.

Reflects everything in the space of 4 minutes, and has a great message, cleverly delivered. Just an awesome peice of art/music really. The video is a nice touch by a fan, because he talks quickly on the record.

Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip - Letter from God

I think Hetzer, and anyone with similar thought patterns, what with his bi-yearly ponderings (public, anyway) of life, purpose and the general self-destruction of mankind and what not, may find this to be a decent little vid, with a cool little message.

EDIT: Really does build up and get better as it goes on. Smile Thumbs Up

I have to agree with you.

I first came across Dan and Pip at Benicassim (Spanish music festival) 2 years ago, I was wandering around in a bit of a drunken daze then I wandered into the tent when they were playing this. Only heard a few tracks cause it was at the end of their set, but it really blew me away! In the cold, hard and sober of the day if you listen to them it can come across a bit pretentious, but if you listen to it with an open mind and actually listen to what he is saying then it is pretty good.

IIRC Pip started out doing open mic poetry without music, and that's what most of the earlier stuff (ie stuff like this and 'Thou Shalt Always Kill') is based on or around.

Worth a listen!

I was in New York last week, and saw this large piece of Banksy-esque graffiti just outside the financial district. Not my usual sort of thing, but the missus liked it, and it's quite skillfully done:

I assume to take it to mean that religon or god can't be blamed for the shit state the world is getting itself into?

Take it how you will, I just think its a great view on things.

Religion is a totally seperate entity to the idea of God though, chris Wink

And tbh, we're to blame for whatevers gone wrong (which in my honest belief, isnt that much, its just the natural cycle of things to fluxuate, and if we think we've actually damaged the climate (properly) after being here 200,000 years, when the world is billions of years old.... Rolling Eyes )

WE created the economy thats now crashing around us. God didnt even have to come into the equation, it just gives a unique and col viewpoint for the song, IMO Thumbs Up

ULive presents the hip-hop/electro duo whose name has been on the tip of everyone's tongues, since the release of their 2007 single Thou Shalt Always Kill. Sounding like a head on collision between The Streets, Goldie Lookin' Chain and Kieran Hebden's Fourtet, Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip manage to mix coolness, humour and wry commentry with some highly original material.

That is on Wednesday 22nd October 2008.

Hmm I still might go myself.

Careful when going in and out, they may get arsey about letting the raccoon into dorms.

Indeed, listened to his album non-stop for a while.

Brilliant song, the one that really kicked them into the public* eye.

I still cant help but feel pretty amazed that they can still throw together a pretty funky song (ie one that you would dance to) and still get across some clever lyrics. See "The beat that my heart skipped", great song.

Although, you may have just ruined their mainstream chances Moonie, people will be up in arms..."The Beatles? Just a band. The Clash? Just a band." Laughing

*musically...not the actual public eye. Ask your average joe who Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip is and they might answer "A type of apple? Next weeks obscure boxing match?"

That's a bloody big suitcase. I was thinking you'd leave it passed out in the cafeteria or somewhere similarly spacious.

If you had read my previous posts throughout the forum more carefully Mr. Surfer, you would know that I have two Racoon friends, and I really dont have any control over them.

There is the 60 foot one that talks to me about matters of life etc, and occasionally backs me up in a fight. "Look, a racoon!"

The 4 footer that I'm taking with me to Leeds. He's the one that comes with me most of the time, offers helpful advice. I'd call him my concious, but honestly, its pretty childish and quite frankly stupid to say that a Racoon is my concious. He's just my friend.

There's also....Oh. Said too much. He'll make an appearance one day. He reckons the time isnt right at the moment, given the present social climate etc.

Thumbs Up

Ahh, fair enough. if the big guy wants a weekend away whilst you're neglecting him then send him up to stay with me. I reckon if Harold_Shand pays for the tickets then between me and a 60 foot raccoon we could probably get Mister James subdued well enough to get him into the terraces of a match. Now that could be an interesting social experiment Thinking

I suspect that - if I was shanghaied by a 60 foot Racoon - I'd have more pressing concerns than starting a fight with half a stadium full of people who think Crimewatch is an awards ceremony.

Ah, tbf Mister James, you're being quite the pessemist.

At least half the fans dont think its an award ceremony.

Thats what you've got to concentrate on. *nods*

Yep - that's me.

No - what I concentrate on is that presumably all the fans enjoy football, something that is totally incomprehensible to me. Many of them also make comments like "football is my religion" and refer to players as 'national heroes' when it's as plain as the day as long that neither of those are true. Heroes - par example - pull cute babies out of burning cars, they do not get paid huge amounts of money to play a tedious game at little or no risk to themselves, enjoying a rich lifestyle that is utterly unobtainable by their fans.
