Some dumb-dumb has pleaded guilty to planning to bomb a restaurant.
https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7671138.stm
| Quote: | The court heard Reilly made the bombs in glass bottles, one using caustic soda and the other kerosene, which he then filled with about 500 nails.
He travelled to Exeter by bus on the morning of 22 May with six bottles, three of which contained caustic soda, and three kerosene and another chemical contained in drain cleaner, the judge said.
I wonder what the other chemical could be. Sulfuric acid? Water?
"As he prepared the caustic soda devices in the toilet of the restaurant, they began to explode. He was subsequently, as the world knows, arrested and injured himself."
Reilly had planned to run into the restaurant holding three bombs to his stomach, but the first one reacted prematurely and he could not get out, the court heard.
According to police, there were 24 customers and 11 members of staff in the restaurant at the time.
Prosecutor Stuart Baker said: "His recollection now is that he was unable to open the lock of the cubicle door and come out, by which time the first device had already exploded." |

https://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/45109000/jpg/_45109902_reilly_226_pa.jpg
By the looks of it he tried to make a pressure bomb which isn't really a bomb at all. Doesn't contain any high explosives, relies on the chemicals reacting and creating enough pressure to burst the bottle. The fact the he is still alive with little more than chemical burns only goes to show how hopeless it would be at killing a restaurant full of people.
| Quote: | Police believe Reilly, said to have learning difficulties, was "preyed upon and radicalised by others". |
| Quote: | The judge, Mr Justice Calvert-Smith, said: "There is evidence from materials seized that he became increasingly drawn to violent action in support of fellow Muslims in revenge for perceived persecution, and to the idea of himself personally becoming a martyr." |
| Quote: | "He was preyed upon, radicalised, and taken advantage of," said Deputy Chief Constable Tony Melville. |
Some of the shit they come out with makes me want to smash my head in with a brick.
Aww, he was a good, young, white man until those damn radical muslims preyed on him and brainwashed him. It's not really his fault for being thick, blame the ragheads and anyone who perceives that they're being persecuted.
| Quote: | "There was some debate, which is revealed by comments on the computer, about what sort of person should be targeted in due course, whether public servants, such as police officers, or other public servants or ordinary citizens," he said.
"In the end the decision was made to target ordinary citizens in a restaurant." |
It's not the government or the police state they're after, it's you!
https://news.uk.msn.com/Article.aspx?cp-documentid=10161330
| Quote: | Ms Simpson said: "There is no doubt that his intention was to kill and seriously injure many innocent members of the public in the Giraffe restaurant in Exeter. This was a criminal act, calculated to cause harm and spread panic. The two improvised explosive devices found in his rucksack contained a combination of explosive chemicals and nails with which he intended to kill many people. The incident in Exeter shows that terrorism remains a real and serious threat to all communities across the UK, and not just our major cities." |
I'm sick of them trying to feed me this bullshit, it's patronising and offensive. They can fuckoff with their serious terrorism threat to everyone and shove it up their arse.
Is it this that is keeping us in the middle east continuing the bloodbath? This threat warrants us to go over there, invade two countries and commit mass genocide? Good show. ____________________ Go back to bed - You have no rights - "Streetfighters ~ Mainstream motorcycling's crackwhore sister." |

In his defence, he does apparently have the mental age of 10, so it would have been easier to brainwash him and he might not have fully understood what he was doing. ____________________ My other bike's a Monster... |

Mmm...
His mental age is a mitigating circumstance, I imagine the sentance will be adjusted accordingly.
On the topic of a 'terrorist on every corner,' they have used this to further the idea that we're all doomed. I don't buy into the idea at all.
If I had to make a list of things I fear in order of how much it keeps me awake at night, seeing my flatmate naked & spiders are much higher up the list than terrorism.

i think hes referring to at what point do terrorists become such a threat they deserve the hype/attention/Focus they are receiving..rather than at what point does a person become a terrorist/if they achived it or not etc.. personally i would say (my view only) this numb fuck would"t of gone down this path if it weren't sensationalized on tv to the degree its been..the live wire tapping of every electronic communications device in the uk.all the up stepped security/people being searched under the anti terrorism act for putting there hands in there pockets..the mass fucking hysteria..and this is the threat please lady's...go back to read "heat" or what ever other gossip magazine that blows things out of all proportions and has the words "RAPE" "DEATH" "HE MADE ME EAT MY PET GOAT AND HAVE SEX WITH MY HORSE" on the front cover in HUGE dramatic letters.. there is no place for you within the police force or government.
ps im not sexist im just referring to the "eewhhaa arrgh no omg omg omg eek no no no terror eek nooooo omg ekkkk characteristic displayed by those in power which can be compared to omg omg omg the gossip omg omg ekkk have u heard omg

I'm not saying there's no intent at all, of course there is intent, we're hated all over the world. If there was as much intent as government would have us believe then they wouldn't have to clutch straws at crappy plots like this though. What's happening because of all these crap plots? Free speech zones, compulsory ID cards, full surveilance of the internet/electronics etc etc because of dumb-dumbs like this.
Over the past 7 years we've went to the middle east under the flimsy guise of terrorism slaughtering everyone in sight. Without that being bad enough we did it after the first gulf war which already destroyed Iraq. We obviously didn't do a good enough job the first time so we had to come back and fuck them to death that little bit more.
Then our leaders have the audacity to say, "They hate our freedoms and democracy" and they want to kill civilians because of that.
Infact I'm actually suprised there hasn't been a lot more 'terrorism' aimed at government. They're murdering scum and our society continues to let them get away with it so long as the cheap toys keep coming in to keep everyone distracted. ____________________ Go back to bed - You have no rights - "Streetfighters ~ Mainstream motorcycling's crackwhore sister." |

I see what you mean. I don't believe they are entitled to any more coverage than a normal criminal.
What I've recently noticed is the coverage of the actual act is sky high (as with the Glasgow airport thing, wasn't even a bomb as such.) The trial gets much less coverage, the verdict tends not even to make the front page.

and for the next round of mass hysteria to produce crippling effects when combined with terroism safe guards we have global warming..yes thats right..its as fake and as easily proved to be of that nature as terroism..the next American president is going to declare Co2 a “Dangerous Pollutant”..you will have a carbon credit system..which is going to be a crippling tax world wide!
your hard earned money paid straight to the bankers take a listen to "david rothschild" (hey hey you remember him right, from the 500 trillion crew) going on about global warming and how we need to stop it..when given the fact that the icecaps on mars are melting in the same manner as earths, along with the moons of Saturn and Jupiter, how are suv"s causing that?
his response: thats because those planets are closer to the sun my friend.
yes thats right! the people pushing the global warming hysteria and calling for huge measures to be put in places don't even know the order of the planets within the solar system..imagine how much of a fucking mug one would have to be to be taken by these fools..i guess earths a giant fucking dish washer or something.

is it just the media pushing a set reality or are the gov involved at a deeper level?the media lies, time and time again, the Russians attacking Georgia,, in an unprovoked manner for instance..thats what we heard for a while right? all Russia Russia Russia,i found that one funny as the rest of the world knew for a fact it was Georgia who started it,and the west as usual were being taken for mugs..
| Quote: | UN court throws out Georgian claim against Russia
The International Court of Justice in The Hague has rejected a request from Georgia to prosecute Russia over the conflict in the Caucasus. The court also called for both parties to do everything possible to protect human rights in areas hit by the conflict. |
truth always comes out in the end, just lucky we did"t have someone who could see Russia from there house in the white house ready to go to war....although that was the goal..big fail...
American politicians make me laugh though, mccain at the top of the list, i love the way he says things live on tv and thinks no one will notice... watched a dinner last night they were giving speeches, all the bankers were there etc,, hes talking and makes a mistake as you do when giving speeches..moves on with the correction no one blinks an eye lid (apart from the smirking bankers)
" We own the media...We all know the media blah blah blah"...silly mistake to make those sentences do not sound alike..accurate one though. |

Geoff Hoon said last night on Question Time that he'd do anything (yes: ANYTHING) to stop terrorism. This during the chit chat on the ID card database.
I see the tories fielded yet another ineffectual ditherer too.
They talked as if there really is a terrorist behind every tree, it was actually quite funny bordering on hysterical.

I'm curious as to why you seem to think this story wasn't widely reported, 10 seconds of searching finds articles on both the BBC and Telegraph websites.
Curiously there is no mention of rocket launchers, unlike the rather esoteric link you've posted
|
Widely reported as in the TV. I cannot recall ever seeing a report on the box and I have to sit through the BBC news every day when I have my tea, which is what I regard as mainstream media. No idea about news papers as I do not read them. I don't see the arse end of a few websites as mainstream media, if you want a news story to get noticed by the average member of public you televise it and put it in the tabloids or similar Such as the one we are talking about. I only heard about it after reading a link from BCF.
Do you think the average bloke (who I always seem to come across when I am out on site) flicking through his copy of the sun moaning about "the fucking rag heads bombing everything" goes home and searches for news stories on the Telegraph website about non-muslim bombers
After looking up the word esoteric (its always good to have Mister James posting as you learn things innit) I simply googled 'BNP bomber' and posted the first link that popped up. Take the tin foil hat off man
| Mister James wrote: |
Leaving aside the fact that his home made bomb had a far more lethal intent than your jocular description (yet more truth-stretching in a good cause?), surely anyone that would try an corrupt a simpleton and encourage him to attempt murder on a large scale is worthy of note?
|
The coke and mentos thing, I'm being jocular because it pales in comparison to the IRA detonating an enormous truck bomb in the centre of London, one of many. I can't find any referance to the Transport Secretary of the day demanding we should all be monitored.
And yes of course it should be reported as its cause for concern. I am not denying that we do have a problem with people out there who genuinely want to kill some of us. What rubs me up the wrong way is how these stories are used to convince us about the 'massive unrivaled terrorist threat which we have never seen before' and how they can stop and prevent them with ID cards etc. Just from looking at the BBC link the IRA were far more organised, intelligent, determined and lethal than the 'radical muslims'. Until we see a constant and sustained level of attack on par with the IRA campaign how can the government say this is the most deadly threat the UK has faced? because it simply isn't true.
As for how they will deal with it I find the methods invasive, intrusive, a blight on my freedom, a threat to my security and personal details. They are also very expensive, open to corruption and manipulation. Not forgeting that they will do very little, if anything, to fight the threat of terrorism. ____________________ NSR 125F > BROS 400 > NC30 > BROS 400 > Trumpet S4 > '97 VFR 750 |

Want to know how serious the IRA threat was compared to the amateur jokers who call themselves terrorists now?
When I was 13, I was in the Air cadets and I wasn't allowed to wear my uniform. I had to change into it once I got to the cadet hut.
In Northern Ireland the SCOUTS weren't allowed to wear their uniform.
Members of the REAL armed forces weren't allowed to wear their uniforms out in public except when on duty.
Know why? In case they were shot by an IRA sniper. It wasn't an idle threat, everyone at the time considered it a sensible precaution.
We had to check underneath our cadet minibus with a little mirror on wheels to make sure there wasn't as bomb there.
I had to make a list of all Irish people I knew to determine if they were a security risk before I was allowed to join the TA.
If you left a bag unattended in a sensitive area, you didn't get some peak-capped guy whinging at you. It was cordoned off, taken away and blown up.
The IRA sucessfully blew up the hotel the prime minister and most of the cabinet were staying in with a bomb in 1984, despite massively strong security. They sucessfully landed several improvised mortars out of the back of a van into the garden of 10 Downing Street
Hell, look at the suspected loyalist paramilitary arms dump they found on Friday. That's 80 real guns folks. Not the crude sort of exploding plastic bottle I used to make at school for a bit of a laugh.
