I'm heading to the London for a weekend in December and need to find somewhere more secure than the street to park the heap that is my bike, even more so since discovering that it can be started easily without a key.

I spoke to a secure car parking place but they won't take motorbikes because they're retarded.

Anyone know somewhere I can park it and have it still be there 2 days later, not fussed about paying, it just makes life easier than using public transport.

NCP charge around £3 a day.

If you're close to the city, the City of London carparks dont even charge for bikes and I think they are manned 24hrs.

If wave's falls through, I have a 'space' on my front yard type area alongside my bike which is away from prying eyes, tis not a problem. 10i-15 minutes on the tube from my place to the city centre.

There will be a charge for english people though.

Nah - moved to Hither Green about 2 months ago. Hence the big gates, I'm spitting distance to Lewisham. The bike is still in Beckenham, feeling poorly since some scrote tried to hotwire it in Docklands! Not been out all summer! Laughing

Cheers Luke. Thumbs Up

I'll sort it closer to the time, I never plan minor details in advance, that way I can fool myself in to making a plannedin advance trip feel spontaneous.

Shaun - Did you have much luck finding a place?

Im going to London on the 29th for a night out, will be staying at Shaftesbury Metropolis London Hyde Park - near paddington.
They dont have a carpark/space but there is one ten mins walk - Something I dont want to do.
I have the option of leaving the bike in Brighton outside the ex's but thats me using public transport which means more money Thumbs Down

I've moved, and not sure how much longer I'll be here, otherwise I'd offer the same to you.

Sorry Louise.

If you're taking your bike, your best bet is to leave it in the NCP at Edgware Road. Depending on what time you get to London, you may have to pay £1.50 for the privilege, this being Westminster council's area. That involves setting up an account first, and then Westminster not recognising your licence plate, so you'll still get a ticket.

There is no 29th in February, though.

As above. I'd say you could leave it at mine, chained to my rather static but safe bandit but the NCP is a lot handier.

If you park in the NCP, it's either £3 or £4 for the day; some don't charge anything at all if you only park for a few hours.

To park in Westminster, you need to set up an account beforehand, and when you find a space to park (*deep belly laugh*), you need to send a text to a certain number with your licence plate and the bay number. If you don't, you'll get a big parking fine. You'll get it anyway, even if you've paid, as they'll just say they didn't recognise your plate... Then they'll reject your appeal, forcing you to take it to the adjudicator. Rolling Eyes

Throw it in the NCP; in London, you cannot expect to have your bike near you, a ten-minute walk is positively a good result! Thumbs Up

Cheers just looked up on that - Signed up.
May as well just buy the permit ?

Permit Type:
For Vehicle:
Date Start:

Date Start: 27/02/2009 00:00:00
Date End: 05/03/2009 23:59:59
Price: £5.1

£5.10 for a week

Cant do daily as I will still be in London at the time it runs out.

Quote:
When buying a new permit, simply select the type of permit required and the date on which you wish the permit to start. Payment will be charged to the credit or debit card in your profile. You may then park your motor cycle in any marked motorcycle space in Westminster during the period of your permit. Recognition of your permit will be done by your number plate so there is no need to show anything on your motorcycle.
