Quick bus Lane Question

Above is a link to a bus lane near my area and i was wondering if the ending and restarting of the white line means a break in the bus lane.

Or whether the red road means it is continuous? even through the turning on the left

I'd say the bus lane continues through because they can't have "no parking" zig zags across an entry to a side road.

Did you get a fine for being in the bus lane?

Bus lanes normally end at a little sign that says 'end of bus lane'.

i didnt ask if ended but whether there was a break in that bus lane or not

i thought that zig zag was due to the crossing traffic lights as before that were yellow lines

had a crash in that opening area

But if the road entry wasn't there, the zig zag lines would continue for a bit longer, basically, there can not be lines carrying on where a side road will merge on to the main road. The only lines that do are for the merging road, not the main road. Sorry mate

The breaks shown are purely to let vehicles in and out of side roads without breaking the law when the bus lane is in operation. Red surfacing means nothing in law, it could just as easily be pink or green, it's just to highlight the lane. The curved broken lines are to let a vehicle exit the side road through to the outer lane, allowing for the swept path of larger vehicles so no part accidentally swings over the bus lane.

There are no buslane markings in the controlled area (zig zags) because it is not permitted to have any other markings between zig zags except warning triangles for road humps.

If you're trying to get out of a ticket I suggest you look to see if the signage is incorrect. Also, if the bus lane is 3 metres wide the start taper should be 30 metres long. If it's 3.5metres wide it should be 35 metres long. From what I can see it's only about 20 metres long. If they got that wrong theres a chance the side road signs are wrong and the signs along it are wrong too.

ps, the exit zig zags on the crossing are exactly standard number (8) and length. If the crossing was closer to the side road and the same number ended up halfway across the mouth, the correct thing to do is keep adding zigs and zags until you go past the side road. You can have up to 18 I think. You can also go as low as only two (one zig and one zag) in exceptional circumstances.

It is not a bus lane ticket but i reccently had a crash there. i was going to turn into that opening but several cars including a mini bus blocked my route. As i was going back into the normal lane i was hit by the minibus and it is evident from the crash and damage that i was in the normal lane.

I will put forward the minibus blocking my route but i wanted some more back up.... so i wanted to see if the zig zag area with no visible bus lane signage would count as a break in the bus lane road

I believe that technically the zig zag area would actually be a bus lane, i.e. the traffic order (the legal document making it enforceable in a court) would state the start and finish, the ped crossing and zig zags are layed over the top if you like.

However, for enforcement purposes, it's no longer a bus lane because the solid white line of the bus lane is absent, so you could not be fined for driving in a bus lane between the start and finish of the zig zag area or the mouth of the side road. Only if you entered the curved broken line past the side road.

That is what i thought in regards to my accident as after the traffic lights i had moved into that second lane in order to turn which is simply a red pavement with zig zag lines (which would relate to parking)

they also used "undertaking traffic", with which frankly i would be dead if i was, but i was only going at 10 miles per hour preparing to turn into a blocked opening

Passing traffic on the nearside is fine in a queuing or slow moving traffic situation.

hmm didnt know that but the problem is really with the bus lane and whether it is still in effect in a controlled zone.
