Yeh I got one of them and four little screws, left scaphoid/metacarpal.
Had it for about 7 years.

right then

1, plate and pins in right knee
2, plate in cheek
3, pins in left forearm
4, plate in skull
5, bar in lower jaw

3 different accidents when much younger and have fully recovered from all though the knee hurts in the cold and damp

Titanium buttress "T"-plate in right wrist.

Was able to ride bike again after 22 days, taking it steady.

Do tons of home physiotherapy after you get the plaster of and
the removable light splint on.

Good luck with a speedy recovery, Goat-Boy. Thumbs Up

Still recovering from July. Smashed my ankle and got 10 screws and a plate. You can feel the plate through the skin. Laughing

Had a long nail thing inside my femur full length and a plate in shin bone - both taken out after about 3 years - and it felt so much better particularly without the plate and screws on shin which were agony if bumped.

After my accident on 20th june this year (So not that long ago really) i have a full length nail and screws in my tibular and a full length plate and screws on my femur.

Due to the severity of the breaks, they won't be removed unless absolutley nessecary. My femur had quite severe bone loss and has healed wonky (so a bit like this if you see what i mean _____-------)

I also broke my back and i have to wear a thorasic brace which is made out of metal if that counts Laughing (although i am currently not wearing it, i only wear it when outside etc where the risk of falling is higher)

As i broke my poor back, it is curved more than normal and will gradually get worse over time, they can straighten it (with the aid of metal plates) in the future if it causes problems of bothers me but they try not to as it is a very risky Op. Shocked

Buuuttt.....i'm technically not a metal rider, but i'm a metal ex-rider Crying or Very sad

Snap...... Cool

All cervical and lumbar vertebrae can be operated upon with relatively little risk. Most thoracic vertebrae can also be operated on fairly easily, but not T7 or T8. They are just in the wrong place as that particular spot is where several major blood vessels pass close to your spine and most of your major back muscles attach to it.

We had to go and pop the awkward ones, eh Matt.

Haha yeah, turns out i did crush my T8 and only fracture my T7 but fortunatley there was no bits of bone floating around, they managed to sort of stick together. However it will be unstable forever Sad

Shrunk almost an inch (with the crushyness and bendy spineness) Laughing

Yep.

Cool. Internal suspension. Smile.

I'm set up with a Femoral nail and 4 screws following the January smash. I was hoping the thing would go off with a metal detector (no such luck - first job after the crash was helping open Heathrow Terminal 5). They could've fitted a gas shock or something so I could "Leave high marks in tall buildings".. but no such luck. I dunno, bloody NHS.. Smile

(Actually, they did a fantastic job scraping me up, sticking me back together and on my feet again... Smile Thumbs Up )

I did say Goat-Boy that it's not a competition. Just because I introduced you to biking, you don't need to go doing everything (like crashing) I do.. Smile

I was just saying to Mrs K. today that I didn't even crash as well as you did. The bit of mecharno in my wrist is nothing compared to your scaffold pole *snigger* and I even still have my bike intact.

However if in 6 months time I get an even bigger more powerful bike then, yes I am coping you... Shocked Laughing
