So, after much deliberation which included the choices...
A. Xbox 360
B. PS3
C. Neither, I'm way too old to dabble with gaming consoles
I opted for option A. I chucked my Wii on eBay, the graphics and gaming experience (on the whole) in hindsight didn't really tick all the boxes (was it too childish even for me!? ).
What followed was a bidding war of 'Faberge Egg fought over at Car Boot Sale' type proportions, it took me by surprise and ended with the Wii (plus accessories) going for what I basically paid for them new...

As I was expecting it to go for £170ish and to cover the cost of a 360 and a couple of games it came as a bit of a shock to me and prompted a change of mind. With Amazon knocking out 80GB PS3 packages at damn near the amount that the Wii went for I changed my mind and went for option B.
So came the impatient (immature) wait for delivery. Thankfully it became apparant that Amazon operate a tracking system for PS3's so I was able to keep an eye on its' progress via the 'My Account' button.
I opted to 'work from home' today as I was told by the tracker that delivery would be made sometime during the day...

At 11ish this morning a screech of tyres and the revving of engine alerted me to White Van Man showing about as much composure as a race-fit Lewis Hamilton as he entered our little cul-de-sac. He skidded to a halt outside the house and jumped out of his wagon. I meanwhile sat pateintly, adopting an Asafe Powellesque crouch awaiting the doorbell to spring me into action - incidentally I banished Roger Murtaugh's 'I'm too old for this Shit' tag line from my mind!
No doorbell rang. I peered through the blinds and saw White Van Man scouring the back of his wagon for my package, brown parcels being disregarded as they fell on the floor. He closed the rear doors and checked the passenger side footwell for any rogue packages - his search however was fruitless and he walked around to the drivers side door pulling out a phone and a fag. I didn't hear the full conversation however I caught a couple of phrases including 'it's not in the back', 'left at the warehouse' and 'Chin Wag, 2.10 at Redcar'. With 'Redcar' hanging in the air he jumped into his jalopy turned the key (while his foot, I'm assuming, was floored on the accelerator) and disappeared in a flurry of smoke, tarmac and diesel.
I sat in the Living Room like a woman whose bloke is a consistent premature ejaculator - unfulfilled, frustrated and pissed off.
To add insult to injury I checked Amazon's tracker later in the day and was met with the following...

Unlucky mate, I know the feeling.
I remember working from home a couple of days waiting for a parcel. On the 2nd day I called the depot at about 4:30 to see what was going on. Apparently the driver had been round both days but marked it as "nobody home" because he couldn't find a parking space right in front of my house ____________________ Current bike - 2006 ZX6R |

Also it is used a lot down South. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. In your face Amazon Chaps...
https://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a231/steveqpr/PS3.jpg
...arrived today
Hooked the Bad Boy up via the HDMI lead, re-routed my V+ HD Box with a Scart, renamed the AV channels on my TV, set up the PS3, buggered about with all the Main Menu settings, joined the Playstation Network, downloaded the latest firmware and then the wife commandeers the TV to watch fockin' Pop Idol! I tentatively pointed out that we've got a 26" flatscreen TV upstairs but Oh, No she wants to watch Cowell, Walsh, Cole, Minogue and O'Leary waste two soddin' ours of Pime Time on the Big Bastard Flatscreen downstairs - I'm so bored I'm considering reading the GTA IV Manual ____________________ Mellow Yellow
