UKOnline/BE/O2 Broadband reviews?

After being disconnected early from Pipex (23rd cut off) I am now without BB until 25th (10th Nov with activation time)

I am suffering with Mcdonalds wifi and 3g.

I am currently looking at either one of the above 3 ISP's

Has anyone here with any of them and what do you rate the service like?

I want between 16 -24mg speed.

I'm not with any of the 3 above (with Force9 since 1996). Anyhow, considering changing as one of my collegues is permanently raving about how good his O2 connection is.

I'm with Be at work (2 lines) for last 14 months, at home as of yesterday as just moved flat, and recommend them to our all clients. The connection has proved excellent; we're about a mile from the exchange and get 14Mb on one line (has redcare on it) and near 20 on the other. Only one day of grief when someone went through a fibre with a digger on the west coast when there was flooding on the east. Support is fair enough, fantastic compared to others if you know what I mean. You can check out the other side of the fence at www.dontbethere.co.uk where you get useful stuff like custom firmwares for the modem. The DMT tool is great for tweaking settings.

I was connected to o2 broadband last night, after changing from Virgin Media.

It really is the dogs bollocks. Setup was a piece of piss, they send you many texts telling you the progress of your order, and the customer service really is excellent.

I'm paying £10 a month (if your an o2 mobile customer you get a discount like i do) for a 16meg line, but i think i'm getting 21meg as my house is 500 metres from an exchange.

With Virgin Media we were paying something like £18 for broadband, and i got about 200kb/sec download max.

I'm now paying £10 and i get fucking 700kb/sec download. I'm well impressed

My situation is pretty much identical to apple tango's with the moving from virgin (same deal) and the price and package i now get from 02 and has been great.

On thing worth adding though, we had a nightmare getting it sorted at first. The shite router they send you for free would warm reboot 4 times a day for no good reason.

Customer support has us jumping through the usual hoops, "do a, b and c and if it's still not working call us back"

anyway long story cut short...3 routers, all same problem. They would answer the phone pretty much strait away, even call us back to see how the new routers were doing. In the end i bought a netgear ADSL2 router and it has been fine. But the best part is, i faxed them the invoice for it and they credited our account!

So all in all, customer service is great, fair use policy is there but no where near as oppressive as virgins. line is reliable and consistent. an 7.50 a month when bought with a payasyou go phone...can't complain

Yeah I'm with O2 since August, they've been good to me so far.

Unlimited up to 8mb for £7.50 a month if you're a customer - brilliant!

I've been an O2 mobile customer for years and their call centres have been good too.

my uni house is using o2 and its awsome. Only on the 8meg and I get 700kbs for downloads and 8 meg web speed. The router is good but the range isn't amazing, still for free you can't complain.

I can't recommend them enough.

I used UKonline for many years from about 1999-2005: they were very good, never a problem, and during that time I moved house three times, it was always easy to reconnect (although that was mostly before major broadband installations). I did have broadband with them in 2004/5 and it was pretty reliable.

Now I've got O2 - as an O2 mobile contract customer I have got the £7.50 deal, both at home and I have also set it up for Andy at his place - so you can have the "cheap" deal whether you are on contract or not. If you're on O2 PAYG mobile you only have to top up £10 a month to be eligible for the £7.50 package.

And its really very good, I never have a problem with connection - plus it was a doddle to install - I managed to do it myself and we all know how low-tek I am.

When we (recently) converted it to wireless, it was not TOO difficult for my mate Woody to set up on wireless.The few problems he did have, were easily resolved by a (free 0800) call to the O2 broadband customer servicedesk.

In between those two service providers, I was briefly with AO(hell)...

I hate admitting to brand loyalty with big companies, but I'm really happy with O2.

You've got to have a landline (don't think it has to be specifically with BT) but that's not a problem for me, I PREFER having a landline as well as a mobile, anyway, I'm oldfashioned like that

UK Online were brilliant for me. Fast, reliable and with tech supp who actually didn't seem to be resident in the grounds of Woburn Abbey. I only left them when they started to enforce a download limit on their unlimited package.

Yup 'nuther happy 02 customer here, On the £7.50 for up to 8mb package, but i swear its more like up to 10mb!

Customer service is excellent and the texts are nice too, lets you know when they're about to take payment aswell
