I'm sure I shouldn't post the pics of my Zeph again lol.
Anyway it's not cold enough for the muffs to go back on yet.

Had a pair of Oxford muffs for over a decade which I use on all my bikes with varying levels of success. I only ever use them for long journeys when it's significantly cold or very wet and I wear summer gloves when using them.
I originally bought them when I was doing a long cold commute on an RXS100, but they weren’t all that good on the RXS because at anything over 40mph the windblast pushed them back against the levers simultaneously slipping the clutch and engaging the front brake. I hated them and thought it was wasted money.
When I got my Divvy 600 I tried them on that and they weren’t much better than on the RXS. My hands felt restricted and they still folded over at higher speed. Still no love for the things.
After I got my CBR600 I thought I’d never use muffs on a sports bike. They probably wouldn’t fit and I couldn’t stomach the uncool look...
...I couldn’t have been more wrong. First time I fitted them to the CBR after a week of freezing weather and hands crippled by cold I was converted. On the CBR they were rock solid and worked perfectly. Still not keen on the looks, but happy to trade off in exchange for comfort and being able to control the bike.
They still fit on the Blade and are almost as effective as on the CBR6, so definitely a thumbs up from me for fitting muffs to sports bikes. They seem to suit clip-ons better than normal bars (IMHO).
For: Warm, dry hands.
Against: Geeky image. Increased handlebar width can lead to taking out car mirrors when filtering.
Bonus: Prevents hand injury while taking out car mirrors when filtering.
A twatty self portrait from last winter:

Anyone actually bought the Motrax handlebar muffs?
I did, on eBay, and I can't get them to fit to my CBR properly without them being really wobbly. The master cylinder level reservoir gets in the way on the right handlebar (mine's a 95 F-S) so I really have no idea how far along the handlebar I should be fitting the muffs, but they just don't seem to fit securely.
Anybody got any decent tips?
Thanks!

My ZX9:

I've taken the bolt holding the bar-ends on and replaced it with a longer threaded rod which I've put through the muffs. This keeps them in shape nicely (easier to put your hands in) and stops them pushing back against the levers.
However they do still push down against the levers, so I shall have to make up some sort of bracket to try prevent that, maybe just adapt some enduro guards. |

I'm starting to wonder, from looking at people's pictures, if I made a mistake in buying the Motrax muffs. I know they look a bit "cooler" and they're cheaper but I don't think they're made nearly as well as the Oxford ones.
False economy and all that... *sigh* |

As I found when I was at the Apex of the bomb-hole at Snetterton with knee on the deck etc, the gearbox isn't ideal for trackdays; did stay on, but it slued sideways as it dropped from third to second.
Anyway, the bling-monger in you should be lovin' the Ohlins shock and Harris rearsets (WP fork internals too, I believe) oh and full Titanium (I think) Akrapovic system, in this case with the Micron can.
