I've just back from my holiday in Italy where my unlce has just bought one.
Used it for 2 weeks and in all honesty my thoughts were:
Day 1 - How does anyone get used to a bike like this?!
Day 2 - How will I ever be able to live without this?!
A very comfortable bike with an addictive power delivery. You need to rev it, but once you do it sounds like a bloody jet fighter!
Really love it. ____________________ Kawasaki ER6n -> Honda CBR600RR -> Honda VTR 1000 -> Moto Guzzi Norge 1200

by the way, if you're serious, I think my uncle has just bought another bike and has done less than 1000 miles on each.
Could try and squeeze him for a deal if you like! hehe ____________________ Kawasaki ER6n -> Honda CBR600RR -> Honda VTR 1000 -> Moto Guzzi Norge 1200

I'll have a work with him then.
You could go and pick it up and ride it back to the UK!! (through the stelvio pass, of course.....)
I was gonna call him today so I will mention it and let you know.

Okay I have bought it - got the price down a little but it is a fair price given all the extras and only a few month old with very little mileage on it.
Pick it up on Tuesday - when you want something don't wait go for it!
Booked my flight over to collect, sorted insurance out, a place to stay and someone to collect me from the airport. Now need to decide how I am getting back home ferry or chunnel... will depend on how I feel and the weather.
I now have to work out how I get my bike gear into my cabin luggage - now that will be a test. ____________________ RidersRest Bikers only B&B in the beautiful Central Massif - France

Haven't done too bad a deal in traveling...
Flight from Limoges to East Mids = 57€ arrive Tuesday 10:20am (1hr 30Min flight) Pick up bike at 14:00
Being picked up from airport by Sister-in-Law and staying with her and Brother-in-law over night in Cannock.
Headed down to Exeter on the Wednesday to visit my Sons and Daughter and grand kids before traveling to Portsmouth to get the ferry
Ferry booked with LD-Lines midnight Thursday - I had to book a short break return which cost £30 which was £30 quid cheaper than a 1 way ticket - what is that all about?
Ferry is an over night which will allow me a few beers and then a few hours kip before landing at Le-Havre at 08:30 for the 370 mile ride home. Should be home for 16:00 Friday latest.
Result. ____________________ RidersRest Bikers only B&B in the beautiful Central Massif - France

Wow erm, excellent and quick work
I thought the Stelvio looked gorgeous, and the new bike doesn't look bad either, it's just a shame they've had to change the engine layout as the transverse V-twin is so iconic.
Anyway, back to your new bike, you live in France and have bought a UK bike. Just out of interest will you need any mods to make it road legal i.e. headlight beam pattern etc... or is it all good to go? ____________________ My claim to fame: Austin Vince nicked my pen... |

It really depends on how lucky I am on the day.
My UK FJR1300 went through the system without a stir, on UK headlights and with a BHP greater than the 106bhp limit imposed by the French Gov. I used a UK "EU Certificate of Conformance"
The Rocket 3 is still not registered in France and having major problem even when I restricted it to 78.1Kw (100bhp) and changed the lights so I am chipping away at this one. I have a UK "EU Certificate of Conformance" but Triumph seem to put a code in which is different for France so my UK R111 is not comming up on the French System... I may cnceed and keep it on UK plates running on French Insurance that way no need for an MOT or Road Tax - I use a TuneBoy to program the ECU so I can restrict and derestrict at leisure.
I am hoping that the Stelvio sails through, though I do have to own it for 6 months before I can officially import it otherwise I have to pay TVA (french VAT 19.9%)
A new Stelvio in France goes for about 16500€ without extra's and no haggeling...
Incidently once a Bike is registered in France, you just have to have insurance and a license (of course) to be legal, they do not have road tax nor do they MOT motorcycles (at the momement) so it is to my advantage to register them. ____________________ RidersRest Bikers only B&B in the beautiful Central Massif - France

Awesome!
Congratulations mate. Spoke to my uncle and he's not selling even though he's only done like 200 miles in 2 months! haha
And remember what I said - pick those revs up and give it time to get used to the 4 valve air-cooled lump.
Believe me, it's a cracking bike.
Enjoy!
