 |
|
On rainy days like this i always end up looking at what bike i want after i pass my A2. Through my other posts i have narrowed it down to a couple of bikes. With my 2k rough budget i could get either a
2000 or older ZX6
or
an old Hornet 6
I like both bikes but being me i like the ZX6 more. I wouldn't mind getting a Hornet but for some reason it doesn't fully appeal to me just as my current bike doesn't. Dont get me wrong they are great bikes but i'm not a real fan of the naked bikes (apart from the new Hornet). If i buy the Hornet it would be because of other people's recommendations and not because i really want it. What would you get?
ps the restriction will probably stay in for the full 2 years ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636

My recommendation, Ninja G2 (99).
Mods to make would be to replace the front springs with nicer ones and something else I got told but can't remember, will post it up when I do. ____________________ Don't practice it until you get it right, practice it until you don't get it wrong.

I prefer the J1 because of the twin headlight look ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636

What is the seat hight like compared to my CBR or RS? because i still want my feet to touch the floor in case things get a bit wobbly at low speeds until i get used to it. ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636

instigator - i've just been reading about the firestorm (im hoping thats what is in your display pic ) what are they like? Been reading and they seem to be a good 'first big bike', bit worried on the size and weight though (i'm 5'10ish and 9 stoneish) and also that or the ninja?
Thanks for the help guys! ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636

Well now its down to the Storm or the ninja but i'll have to go see them for real and also run some insurance quotes. I'm kind of leaning more towards the ninja though, really like them
Thanks for the help, much appreciated ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636

An R6 would be nice but insurance and higher costs make it difficult and also the fact people are saying the Ninja would be better for me, so i will wait a while and one day while and buy an R6 which has the YCCI
Im sure i'll get used to the weight but as i said it makes it easier to be able to touch the floor ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636

J1's are good bikes, and as for a zx over a firestorm it's all down to budget and personal preference.
I like my J2 but I would have prefered a Firestorm, but now I have to ride it everyday I'm glad I'm saving a bit on fuel
Just to let you know my tatty J2 was £1600 so keep your eyes peeled as theres a few about!
The only reason I prefered the Storm was the V-twin noise. But then the zx doesnt sound bad at all (kwak induction noise is damn good!).
Get a test ride on each if you can (not easy I know) and see what works for you. ____________________ A quater of a NC30 and a whole tatty ZX6R J2, that's plenty...

Not really. Not a fan of the SRAD and prefer the Ninja over the 600f but how would the K1 compare? ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636

If your looking at a Hornet purely because other people have recommended it, i'd say ster clear.
Buy th bike YOU want. I was being pushed towards getting a brand new GS500f instead of a proper sports bike. I stuck to my guns, and ended up with a CBR600f I would never have been happy if i'd bought that gs, even if it was a bargain offer.
Best. Decision. Ever. ____________________
