Right, all you Londoners!

I commute just about every day to university in Harrow from my house in South Woodford along the A406 (North Circular) westbound towards Wembley about 9 - 11 in the morning, and i often see lots of bikers on my travels to and fro.

just wondering if anyone else on here may be travelling around the North Circ around the same sort of time!

i love the queues early morning coming up to Golders Green turn off, lots of lovely filtering Smile which i usually join up with a few other bikers on the way too Thumbs Up

so... anyone here!?

Me!! Laughing

I usually join the NCR at Henlys Corner and go all the way round to just before Chiswick roundabout! Then back again in the evening! Filtering is the way of life on this road!

I join it from the A12 on the Redbridge Roundabout and come off on the roundabout where the A13 crosses through, near Beckton/East Ham.

I also see a ton of bikes going down the A12, which I join from the A127 at Gallows Corner. A guy was behind me at a set of lights today, started drumming on his tank, then as we pulled away, he overtook and did a nice wheelie. Wonder if he comes on here at all...

Possibly the worst roundabout i have ever encountered with minimal lane marking and random exit placements lol

Advice? Find something to amuse yourself - the A406 is an incredibly boring road. Laughing I went there on Monday to the Ace Cafe at Brent Cross - I was bored off my ass when I go there, that A406 just keeps going and going Laughing

There's no point during the week, not since Wogan packed it in.

Do it during rush hour - mostly entertainment from trying to find ways around the bikes slowing you down Rolling Eyes.

As for radio - listen to music on long motorway journeys. In town I want and use full concentration as I'm generally continuously filtering if it's London.

I reckon your current journey will take the same amount of time as going round the NCR. Also using the Nth Circular you'll see your fuel bill rise.

If you've got a bike that's 500cc+ then worth giving it a try - anything smaller it'll take you longer than your present route.

Currently getting about 17miles per litre. The short stretch I am doing on the A40 is probably making that worse than needs be.

Thanks for the advice, I think that the journey I do - Woodford Green to Hammersmith will always take around the hour mark.

I might get quicker as i get more experienced / find slightly better routes, but an hour on the bike (pedal or motor) is infinitely preferable to 90 minutes door to door on the tube.

Might try the Embankment and A12 to see how that goes, but there is lots of congestion from Blackfriars to Stepney Green from what I remember on the push bike.
