if you're talking about the oil cooled gsxr motor then yes loads of folks have ...
i'm at present sticking a gsxr1100h motor in a Z750ltd chassis (it's a bit taller than the old Z was)..
https://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh311/NiteMare_08/100-0073.jpg
you'll find that most older aircooled motors are bigger than the oilcooled, i'm keeping my eyes open for a dead GS550 as i have a couple of oil cooled motors laying around waiting for frames to stuff them in ____________________ it ain't broke...
i ain't fixed it enough |

yes im hoping to fit a slab side motor in an old gs750 frame, apart frome the carbs, igniter unit ect needed, im not sure about the engine brackets so the sprockets line up and it sits in teh correct part of the frame so balance.
does anyone make brackets for a conversion like this? or drawings? ____________________ www.700ebooks.info 700ebooks and software scripts

one of the things to consider when fitting oil cooled engines in air cooled frames is do you want to make exhausts from scratch or not, if not i advise setting the motor as far forward in the cradle as possible, i still had to make adaptors for my exhaust ports....
https://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh311/NiteMare_08/100-0062.jpg
you could possibly/probably mount your engine to the original front mounts of the cradle (might need centering), i made a 9mm spacer to move my engine across the cradle (crappy picture)....
https://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh311/NiteMare_08/100-0023.jpg
then with careful drawing on old cornflakes boxes make up patterns for the rest of the mounts (that's how i did it) and cut them out with an angle grinder....
the next question to be asked is do you mind welding new mounts to the frame ?? (4welded in mounts)..
https://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh311/NiteMare_08/100-0011.jpg
i used pair of 1100wp bottom mounts to bolt to mounts i cut and welded to the lower frame rails, which gave me a little bit more space for removing/refitting the engine...
i made my own rear engine plates and spacers...
https://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh311/NiteMare_08/100-0012-2.jpg
take your time before welding to make sure everything is sitting square, central and inline with the frame...
i had to make a spacer to offset the rear wheel sprocket to align the chain due to the skinny hub/sprocket carrier i'm using..
https://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh311/NiteMare_08/100-0042.jpg
and in case you hadn't noticed i modified an old slabby swingarm to go in the frame, also modified the frame to get it in there...
no one to the best of my knowledge actually makes brackets as an off the shelf conversion, i've also no idea if there's any drawings out there to accomplish it ...
all you need is patience (take your time and double check everything), cornflakes (for the box), a pillar drill (ordinary electric drill will do if needs be), an angle grinder and hopefully access to a welder and a lathe (for spacers) a decent steel rule would come in handy along with an engineers square, 1 MUST have is a centre punch for marking drill points ..
all my parts were made at home with mostly very basic tools and no special engineering knowledge
i've had to make my own coil mounts and remove the original fuel tap from the tank, had to make adaptors to lead to a remote tap as the tap sat on the carbs, also ground the lip out of the bottom of the tank (gotta weld it back up) to get it to clear the cam cover (slabby engines are taller than slingshot and gsx600f/B6 motors) ____________________ it ain't broke...

thank you for taking time to do that long reply,, i cant weld myself so that maybe a problem, but still a lot of information for me to digest. was it a gs750 frame you fitted it in or another bike? ____________________ www.700ebooks.info 700ebooks and software scripts
