Taking your test far from home

Got my test on november the 3rd, cant wait but im taking it a 60 mile ride away on a/b roads with my instructor, so any advantages/disadvatages of doing this??
Obviously i wont know the roads and the area at all, and would have done a <2hour ride prior to the test.

Any advice as im nervous about it Sad

I took my A2 test miles away, i think it made me read the roads better instead of (Oh yeah i know this road) and you know how they keep asking you to pull over so they can make/take notes don't stop on someones driveway.

I agree it might switch you on a bit more but....

I dont know where your from but whatever section you are from - North/south etc ask in there and name the area, may be a chance someone has done a test there and may be able to give you some info about certain areas to look out for. I know everywhere has its own daft junctions or stupid layouts so it may help. Aside from that if you feel your ready, can ride a bike and are confident you should do ok anyway. Apart from being out of your depth a bit area wise, the riding itself might be a pain in the long run. Make sure you'll be comfortable and all should be good.

i did my test when near uni (in winchester) so had no idea with the roads but had 2 days of lessons beforehand to learn the test routes. if you can do that it'll help but i did find new roads meant no bad habits and did pretty well. good luck for it

i took my test a fair distance from home, didn't know the area, rode there before the test, took the test pissed it cos i was concentrating more and i was much more alert due to not knowing the area.

just get comfy and relax and you should be fine. Thumbs Up

I ended up taking my test about 30 miles away in a place I had never been to before. My instructor picked me up and took me on the back of his bike to a place where he had a bike stored and we went from there.

Both my car and bike tests were passed in places I had never been to - it must have helped!
