Just found 28 left over from when my dad busted up his finger.

Anyone taken codeine before whilst not in pain?

Worth popping a couple or not?

And how would I fair with that and a bit of mandy?

Cheers

codeine is an opiate, ie like heroin very moreish

u might develop a taste for it and set out to get serious injuries to get some more medically prescribed stuff

im sure its very nice if you are careful, but would you be careful ?

best to be safe and take half rather than a couple i reckon tho

Codeine spaces me out but not in a pleasant way (a bit like a whitey).

It also makes you constipated and can be habit forming.

All in all, not a fantastic idea.

Keep them, if you ever have a really annoying but non-productive cough, 1/4 of one will turn it off for about eight hours.

I meant a couple over a while.

I'm not planning on ever using all 28 as I know how addictive it can be, but as a one time thing I think it could be quite cool.

I know, lets find a random prescription drug and take it for 'recreational purposes'.

I know, lets jump off of a cliff onto some jagged rocks.

I know, lets stop being a dumbass and grow the fuck up.

They can give you a bit of a buzz and slow you down, better if you can have a bit of a toke with them. Take enough and you won't be able to feel anything. They can make you itchy if you take too many.

I knew of two people that were addicted to it. One is now dead and I am not sure of the fate of the other although if the cow ever comes anywhere near me again I will kill her.

Ive got about 40 codeine phosphate tablets left if you want them....

They don't even get rid of the pain on me anymore, let alone sent me funny. However taking them with alcohol is great Very Happy

I'm on tramadol now, that gets rid of the paint but no longer sends me funny, it used to. IV tramadol is far better though. I am showing signs of getting addicted to tramadol, so went to the quacks and told her and she gave me another 100 and upped my dose......WTF!!!!

I have no choice but to take them, the main is mental. Especially now i've started intensive physio.

Funny... I thought turpentine substitute was good at removing paint... but tramadol?... guess ill have to get some from the local station and prove/disprove your claims...

In the words of my father (and probably someone before him), "destablize the mind to avoid bland perspectives"

Someone hasn't been doing enough destablising.

Well your father is correct in one way and incorrect in another.

First of all, you don't destabilize the mind to avoid bland perspectives, you destabilize the mind to avoid your boring arse life. If you really do feel that your life is so crappy that you need to risk your health and mental wellbeing to make it more 'interesting' then so be it.

Its not even as if the drug you speak of is particularly destabilizing to the mind, it just makes you addicted.

Personally if I felt that way I'd go and smoke some weed. At least we know it isn't physically addictive and it has a definite effect rather than taking some unknown prescription painkiller. Or don't play it by halves and get some mushrooms. At least mushrooms are natural and not synthetic!

Your father should have said "Destabilize the mind to avoid reality because its so damn boring and I can't be bothered to do anything to make it interesting."

Bit by bit.

Arrow Who says you don't destabilize the mind to avoid bland perspectives? Some of the most interesting and intelligent people I know partake in drug taking of all manners.

Arrow What I was asking was whether codeine was worth the buzz and how addictive/nasty it was, not saying it was a good idea.

Arrow I smoked weed for six year up until 3 months ago, and it is incredibly capable of turning you into a shivering wreck, just as badly as alot of other stuff.

Arrow Can't be bothered to do anything interesting?

Not like riding a motorbike?
Or active outdoors stuff?
How about a PhD?

My dad does a whole load of interesting things, he just knows that you can also have fun by taking drugs, and that you don't have to stop taking drugs in order to "grow the fuck up". He has a brilliant education, a very successful self run business with top end clients, a large amount of friends and 2 kids who love him, if that isn't grown up I don't know what is.

yes that may be true but your Dad would probably know not to pick up random prescription drugs and take them to get a 'buzz'.

Its the sort of thing that the slightly dodgy kids in my year used to do when I was thirteen.

It's pretty fun, but not worth it.

I did find that out by action not assumption though, IMO the best way to find something out is to try it.

Not to be too negative, but to be honest, if you can't use something like weed in a 'responsible' way (i.e. a way in which you don't become dependent on it) then I don't think that you should even consider going anywhere near any Opiates - regardless of how good they could make you feel!

As it happens, I agree with Stinkwheel in that when I had them they just made me feel spaced out and slightly nauseous, but not at all in a good way.

Stu, I started on the weed when I was 10, certainly not responsible or mature.

However now I am both, hence kicking the weed.

I use class A's without addiction on odd ocassions responsibly etc.

And Hetzer, if it's possible to do without a massive chance of fucking my life up I will try it, hence asking about codeine before trying, didn't know how addictive it was or even what doses to try it in.

So your dad is ok with you taking drugs?

You smoked weed at 10-16
You sniffed glue
You are considering "necking" someones left over prescrition drugs.

Think I will tell my kids to just say no Rolling Eyes Wink

I didn't say neck I said bang Razz

And my dad doesn't nearly know the extent tbh, if he did I think he'd mind an awful lot more, he didn't know I smoked weed until I was like 13 either.

I think saying no is a good idea, and then if they do it just make sure they are being sensible.
