To address fears about mass surveillance and random searches, the police insist fingerprints taken by the scanners will not be stored or added to databases

So how the fuck are they gonna use it, if the bastard prints arent in a database. What would be the fuckin' point?!

i get the feeling they will check it against fingerprints taken when people are convicted. if you havent been convicted it would come up as unknown at a guess.

Then all they have to work on are previous criminals, if that is correct.

That article said its going to be identity checks.

So tens of thousands of devices, to find out if a small percentage of people on the street are who you think they are.

Well done government spending! Thumbs Up

its no different to the system in use now via the PNC. if they run your name and you havent been in trouble before you do not show up. Only with the new scanners it would be impossible for you to give someone elses details (if you are already wanted for example) unless you have stolen someone elses finger which would be fairly obvious.

Not to worry, that'll be covered when they put everyone on the database. If you don't show up, you don't exist so you'll be taken away.

Same idea as the ANPR, they'll check your plate against an incomplete database, says you aren't insured so they take your car and tell you to piss off without the chance for a producer.
