I've just bought a gpx400r with a leaking oil seal.

Problem is i dont have the money to replace anything quite yet.

I do however have a gs500e fork seal which i THINK is the correct dimensions (49mm ext. dia., 37mm int. dia., 8mm height)

My question really is, is it worth me trying to fit this fork seal for the gs500? surely if the internal and external diameters match it should work?

The seal may fit but you'll still need to top up the fork oil which has leaked out ... unless you are thinking of using the fork oil as well Wink

Ask your mother for a loan of a tenner, you'll get a set of fork seals for that Thumbs Up

And the oil that you lose when changing them, etc.
Generally if all three dimensions are exactly the same, it will be fine.

it's more down the the fact i have a single fork seal begging to get used, and if it works then i know for future than some bikes share(Y)

According to an ebay selling listing both GS and GPX fork seals they both have the same dimensions so i think i'll try it.

Along with the second hand chain i've been given i might only have to fork out for an MOt on the short term!

Oh and yeah i understand about the oil, but i have plenty of that spare too Mr. Green

I think im growing stingy!
