ybr125 or en125 ??

Hi ! just passed my cbt(was fun actually ), now i'm looking for my first bike .I have managed to narrow it down to two bikes a yamaha ybr and a suzuki en125. I've had a test ride on a friends ybr and was a good ride, but! i've seen a ybr and the suzuki for sale with both being quite similar (en is cheaper) the thing is they are both imports , is there much difference from uk versions.
Just trying to make a final decision before parting with cash.

if they're imports they might have km/h rather than mph which could be a pain in the ass. but I'd get the en, reckon it looks nicer

I've posted a fuller reply on the thread kiers had linked to about my experience with an unfaired EN-125.

To clarify, if you want an EN-125 then it will have to be an import as Suzuki never officially imported the bike into the UK. Can't speak for the YBR models though.

I think the EN does it's job well of being a learner bike. I'm happier on it than a five year old CG that I did my CBT on but that's probably partly down to the abuse the training school bikes get. I'd arrange to go and see them, sit on them etc. see which feels good to you. Mechanically I imagine the learner bikes from the big bike firms are much of a muchness.

ive just bought myself a Suzuki GX, these are very similar to the EN's and are likely to be much cheaper too
in all honesty i dont really think there is that much of a difference between them
but if you search them on the internet you will find they dont seem as popular as the EN's
they are worth considering though
CGs are also worth looking at, you should find some for really decent prices
because YBRs and ENs are so new you will struggle to get one thats a fairly low price
though it depends on how much you are willing to spend
because on imports the clocks are different, some dealers will change it to mph when it comes over, i think this may have been the case for mine
i paid about £800 for mine from a dealer
i also love YBRs and ENs but i think ive got really lucky with finding the GX
keep your options open...theres plenty of good bikes out there similar to the YBR and EN for much better prices
i think it is better to try and budget yourself with your first bike so then you have time to save up and splash out for your next

I'm in the same dilemna as you. Which one did you buy finally?
I'm looking forward to buy a 125 and still haven't made up my mind between the EN & YBR.
EN has tubeless tyres, nice looks
YBR is slightly bigger and is sold in more countries thant the suz. It's engine also has a slightly higher compression ratio (10:1)

Hi , well i decided to get the YBR, and managed to pass my restricted 33bhp test finally
Although i'm looking for a bigger bike (no rush though), i'll think i'll still keep the ybr as it has that basic fun factor where you can feel everything it's doing .
The next question is what do i get for a "1st " big bike ?
I'm looking for something traditional like a Bandit 600/honda cbf 500/600????

Can only say good things about the EN as I passed my test on it - BUT spare parts were quite difficult to get hold of - perhaps that`s not such a problem now as they appear to be more popular

Well thanks for the replies... Both bikes are worth it... I'll most probably get one by next week... the price issue in my country (Mauritus) was not important as they were sold at identical prices but went to the suz dealer yesterday and he said they received a new stock and they were calculating the prices.
I suppose it will be higher... based on Japanese Yen and US dollar rising....

I did my CBT on the EN, i found it slow and rather lumpy to ride, my YBR is much smoother, much much higher top end and is generally nicer to ride. Both are carbs btw.

I've heard the YBR tends to vibrate less than the EN since they have a system to reduce vibration. Is that true?

I would go was a YBR over an EN suzuki's generally rot far quicker than other bikes imo.

I'd take a CG over both, but i'd rather have an RXS100 they are the tits.

Who said the en 125 too slow for ride.. :evil:
In Indonesia, En 125 (known as thunder 125) can output 11,3 Hp @9500 Rpm (limiter) and reach 110-115 kmph (depend on your weight).
Well..considering it just a commuter 125cc and cheap also( price at IDR 14.700.000) in indonesia.. I'll say the Thunder EN125 is the best "value/price" and "value/performance"..

ps: I dont really know about EN 125 there, there's no YBR 125 here.. :down:

I rode a ybr for 8 months and thought it was fab! learnt alot of riding skills and loads of confidence on the road with it,. passed my test in sept last year and got myself a honda cbf 500 abs version, which I have found ideal as an upgrade, it's got nice smooth throttle control and has a nice low seat. I tried a few bikes in cluding 600's, but found some felt a bit too big and could not touch the ground comfortably, but would look to upgrade again in a few months once. Highly recommended.
