Hi, my bike gave up on me today and I ended up pushing it home. When I got it back I had a look at the spark plug and found that the gap (should have been 0.25 - 0.31mm) and it was more around 2mm. Shocked

Would this have caused the plug to not spark (on and off) and result in thebike lacking acceleration? Also would it partly flood the engine as the fuel isn’t being sparked? Question

I found that once i had adjusted the plug's space to what it should have been the bike pulled easier off at 2500 revs as apposed to 4/5000 which it needed before!

Hi

Yes it would definatly cause problems. Surprised it ran at all with a spark plug gap like that.

All the best

As weird as it sounds, I am glad to hear you say that Smile At least it looks as though I found the source of my problem. Very Happy All I have to do now is take it out for another run to see if that has solved it. Just I am a bid wary in case it breaks down again! Fingers crossed it wouldn’t! Very Happy

Can't believe this, the same has happened to me today. I was happily riding along, and then, no spark, bike cuts out, and I'm on a hill, luckily the next college entrance was on the hill, so I rolled back into college! Had no time to check, but I figured it was the spark plug. Got Dad to check whilst I was at work, and low and behold, it was!

Got a new one now anyway, bike much better!

You're right there, good old non compulsory education.

I would have cleaned the spark, again, but had to get to work, would be quicker to walk, so, i did!

I also keep a tool kit under the seat, had a quick look under tank to see if the cap had come off the plug, as I only cleaned it the day before, then left bike and went to work.

But thinking about it, the gap on my old one was huge (2mm or so), luckily got changed today!

Maybe I should ride off with the choke out for a while..

Try not to use the choke more than you have to, if you can get away with holding the revs on the throttle do it and shut the choke off earlier.

It's reassuring to hear that other people have had the same problem as me, not meant in a mean way, lol. Just means that it’s not just my bike! Smile
