I have searched the forum but can't find any real answers.

I have just passed my test and bought a VFR400 but i have no leathers, helmet etc..

Could someone please confirm the best day to get all my gear?

I have been told the last day is best, is this true?

Have about £1000 to spend.

Depends on how lucky you get.

Bear in mind they'll have less of the popular sizes on the last day, although stuff will be cheaper that's no good if they've sold out.

Best thing to do is go to a bike shop that knows what they are talking about. That way if you have problems with gear you can always drop in and ask them.

I'm definitely going to the bike show anyway.

Is everything cheaper from the 1st day or is just near the end of the show?

IT's cheaper from the first day, and then as they run out of stock of the good brands/types/sizes they get cheaper still until the show ends.

So do you think Sunday 30/11/08 would be a good day?

To be honest any day is as good as the next. What you need to do is shop around. Have a good look round before buying anything. Look at all the stands and then go for your bargain. With a £1,000 to spend you should get everything you want and have a couple of hundred change. The last day bargains can be had but you have to be lucky and want what is there on the last day. Sometimes gear can be cheaper in the regular shops if you buy the full gear and ask for a discount. Usually if you are spending a few hundred on cobber you can get a few bob off or something else thrown in for free.

Thumbs Up this. If you're buying everything at once a regular shop may be willing to offer you a discount which results in a cheaper overall cost than buying at the show. Plus, you've got a point of contact to go to should you have any problems.

If you're going in on any kind of mission, go in on a weekday - it's crowded enough then.
Weekends are just mental.

Thats the problem i'm going up with my old man and he's so busy in work he can't get anytime off, so it got to be a weekend.

After reading the replies it has to be the first weekend.

Thanks Guys

I've not really been impressed by the alleged bargains to be found at the bike show, seems you just get lots of companies selling the same stuff and all shouting about how cheap it is when it isn't really.

Definitely get some price guidelines on the net beforehand.

I have tried on the helmet that i'm getting.

Arai GT Viper - Banda Black.

£399.99 Hein Gericke
£399.99 Helmet City with £120.00 worth of extras

so hoping i'll find some cheaper prices there.

Also i have got prices of leathers, glove etc which i will compare.

All condor's have gone up £20 so far, the rest to follow suit.
Looking forward to the NEC myself.

I went on the last day of the show last year and picked up an Arai condor for about £40 less than RRP and new Sidi all weather boots for about £20 below RRP.

Shame I smacked the helmet on the floor after 3 days of wearing it in my smash and the Ambulance guys chopped the new Sidi's off as well. Sad..

Still, was a bargain for the few days of usage I got and the lid kept my head in shape. Thumbs Up

K.
