08 r6 Exup

Right i have just derestricted my r6 according to my other topic. BTW it is a beaut now But i cant figure out how to sort out the exup. Been at it for hours and still stuck. I set them up accordantly and when i twist key and start her up the vavle just stays open it doesnt shut like its suppose to. So i set it up with the vavle shut (almost shut as the cables are tiet). It still wont open and close on start up so i start her up and rev over 6,000 which them is meant to open and again it doesnt. I cant set it up right does anyone else know because its fruastrating me now.

Its not an exup valve like some yamaha's have. The flap only starts to open at a paticular rpm. Its more to do with top end speed and also to do with exhaust noise below that rpm opening. I don't think you'll get it to open by merely revving it. You will more than likely have to be moving.
Thats why alot of the new 08 R6 bikes have had problems on quiet track days. They get through noise scrutineering at the track side but some are being black flagged when they are going full tilt through the ontrack noise regulators.

When you have a new end can the flap and servo cables are removed completely.

Try disconnecting both control cables from the servo and then start the bike. Watch what the servo does when you first switch on the ignition. Then try revving the bike. The servo should rotate at higher RPM. I don't think it needs to be under load but I've not dealt with the 2008 R6 yet to be honest.

Let us know what the servo does and at what rpm.

Well i have unpluged it and get the code 17 on the dash. Plug it back in and it the servo turns antilockwise about 3/4 of a turn then back to normal.

I just dont get how to set it up. Do i set it up so the valve is shut or open and the cables are really tiet and once ive connected them its impossable to move the vavle open and shut by hand. Is that normal? Thanks

Also untill i get it working it wont harm the bike running it with the valve open will it? Thanks

The best thing to do is to grab both cables and pull on one so that the valve closes. With the ignition off put the shortest cable onto the side of the servo that will 'pull' when it does that 3/4 of a turn. Put the longer side onto the other side of the servo.

That should sort you out.

The bike doesn't need to be under load, so you can do it in neutral. Not 100% sure on the opening point though.
