 |
|
Hi,
I was advised to changed the points and condenser on my bike as i was suffering poor starting issues and bad running, minor power loss.
I went to the shop yesterday and bought a new condenser and a new set of points and had them installed/soldered, then i asked the mech guy to time my bike for me, when the stator plate(?) was off, he said he noticed a smear of oil at the bottom of the left hand crank seal, so he fitted up the magneto again, and it started reluctantly but i thought my troubles would now have been solved.
NO
Parked it up, left for work after leaving it about 3/4 hours and it wouldnt start, finally kicked over about 10 kicks later, and it ran really badly, well i was loosing power. Left it outside work and same happened again on the way home.
This morning i called my friend who came to look at it for me, and i told him about what the mechanic had done for me, and he said the timing looked fine but was concerned of the oil on the seal. He said the 'crank seal may have gone'(?)
Likely?? And if so, what are the symptons to this. And if theres a left hand, im guessing theres a right hand crank seal so would this need to be changed to or not?
Thanks as usual guys for advice. ____________________ Chealsie Dagger! |

Thanks rotax, is there anything else that it sounds like before i get the seals done? Anything sound likely?
Finglonga- like i say, i didnt do them so i just said that becuase i saw wires and things going in and i would have had no clue about how to do it myself, i have no real mechanical knowledge hence why i pay to have things done. ____________________ Chealsie Dagger! |

if it has sparks, fuel and compression it should be ok when starting from cold (as long as you are using the choke)
try kicking it over 3 times from cold with the choke on and no throttle.
(if it starts there is no need to try the following)
take the plug out to see if it is wet or dry.
if it is dry you have a fuel problem.
if its wet you have a spark problem.
then come back on here with further findings ____________________ ZX636C6F road. ZX636C1H track. ZX7R redundant. ZX0.5R minimoto as ornament.

There was fuel on the plug, so got to be electrical then
Might get my friend to go over the points and timing again just in case.
What should i look for, whats worse a points gap thats too big or too small?
Thanks, C ____________________ Chealsie Dagger! |
