 |

I wasn't sure where to post this...
---
You can now check on your vehicle's MOT history, all the previous owners' Passes, Fails and Advisories issued since computerisation.
It was news to me until I discovered it yesterday and it can make interesting reading to see what trouble previous owners have had to remedy (and what might lay in store?).
To check here, you need the registration mark and a reference number either from your V5C or from the latest MOT certificate.
Also useful for detecting clocking -- the odometer history is shown.

Wicked
My Fiesta failed due to a faulty steering rack in 2006, and my 636 failed due to headlight aim and indicators flashing more than 120 times per minute. Didn't know they sat there and counted them, what if they lose count |

Only annoyance is that you have to have some paperwork to check it. IE its fairly useless to a buyer wanting to check the history, unless seller provides the info on request (yeh right). ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

Bare in mind, it's only as good as the data put in.
My bike shows up as being clocked according to that.
In 2005 (got the bike in 2004) it had done 133000 miles or so, basically put two 3's in, instead of 2. ____________________ TheShaggyDA: I've got 3 or 4 pairs that predate my wife, so at least 11.5 years old. |

Gutted, My ZX6 has been clocked... It seems they took off 12k, i wouldent have paid so much for it having known this, and now i think i need a more extensive full service rather than just the oil/filters/plugs i had done a little while back...
I take it i have no real recourse against the dealer i brought it from as they can just say thats the mileage it had when it came to them?

I'd have thought maybe at the time you could take action against them, not sure if there is a time frame for these things? |

I have had the bike for about 2 or 3 months,
And the really worrying thing is tomorow morning im riding to bloody amsterdam, theres me thinking on a 10k bike, so its actually more like 28k and who knows if the valves have ever been checked... Thats gonna fuck with my head all the way there and back now.
When i come back im going to put a fucking brick through the dealers window...
I dont know if i would have just prefered to be in blissfull ignorance... ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |

Feel pretty sorry for you Don. Thats hard luck. How much did you pay for the ZX?
Well I cant get it to work for the bike I just bought...doh The V5 doc number is the number looking like?
"1234 567 8910"
I put my reg number and that one in and it failed. Maybe its not been MOTed for a while... ____________________ My current bikes are - YZF-R1 & GS 500 E

About 3-400 quid more than its worth (with this new info), And i only stumped up the extra on the basis that it was a low mileage clean example of an early ninja...
They acheived exactly what they set out to do, get a sucker like me to part with a bit more hard earned cash. The front of those cunts at the dealership too, when i was haggling he was really pushing the mileage and i was pushing the crappy brakes...
With hindsight it all makes sense now, the exhaust had been welded and the 6pots were shite, I feel like such a fool as when i was standing there discussing if i should buy it with my mate i said to him, thats awfully low mileage for a 9 year old bike, but i dident trust my gut instinct and brought with my heart, let that be a lesson to everyone, if it sounds too good to be true it is...
Touching some major wood here in light of the 900 ish miles im doing tomorow, the bike has always started on the button and been ok, but now knowing the true mileage im really gonna have to fork out for the full service taking the head off, not something i have a clue how to do nor can afford...
Oh and yea the V5 Doc Ref Number is "xxxx xxx xxxx" i believe. ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |
