possible battery problems?

hi, i have a 2003 954 fireblade, and i left the bike for 3 weeks and the battery was flat?

so i got an optimate and after more tests the conclussion is thus.......

the optimate or the bikes charging system will get the battery to 13.50 v

then the battery will drop to 12.50v in about 8 hours and stay at 12.50v

which seems enough to start the bike?

is 12.50v about right?

How does the bike sound when it's starting? Voltage means nothing much it's Amps you need. If it turns over slow then there is a problem, my battery sits at 13.7v but it is a Hawker & will start a Jumbo.

not abnormal if you have a stupid alarm system that flattens it
i have to have mine on optimate in the colder months.

12.5v is ok but as said. if it sounds a bit iffy turning it over then it may be about on its limit.

3 years is a general battery life

Think it'll be time for me to get a new battery soon, noticed she's turning over a bit slowly in the mornings

when the cold months come along as in now a battery will show its weakness.
the oil will be thick, the cold will take it out on the battery, the engine takes longer to fire up etc etc and its time for a new one.

if the engine is struggling to turn over quick enough then there is hardly anything left for the spark plugs to do their job.
