MOD Police...

Currently looking at possible jobs for when I graduate and see that the MOD police are recruiting at the moment, it looks quite interesting but I don't really know much about it. Does anybody have any experiences they could share?

mod is pretty much the worst lot to work for. alot of patrolling army bases. my mate did it so he could say he carried a gun but it was so rubbish he transfered to essex as a standard pc after 6 months.

basically glorified security guards...

the ones at work dont really do anything apart from stand and talk to the gate personnel.

you can tell when they get REALLY bored, because they set up speed cameras around the dockyard where the speed limit is 20mph... they get proper hidden, like behind parked cars, signs, out of vans.

Im doing a public service course at college so have looked into a lot of this personally and spoken to people in the job.

As "sad" as it may seem your best bet would be to join the police as a PCSO, you get about £20k a year starting salary which rises each year and also rises with good performance. You can't arrest people but you do patrol with fully trained PC's so you do see front line action.

It's a good in-sight into life as a PC or even a military policeman, and you CAN get sent to war as a military policeman. They patrol areas in Iraq/Afghanistan to keep the peace and help the police over there. PCSO's are a waste of time IMO but it's an extremely useful stepping stone especially for students looking for a job, the police actually have a lot of respect for them because they can use them for incidents they would rather not bother going too such as teenagers drinking and the like.

Ok well respect isn't the right word as such, but when their on duty they treat them with respect because they find them useful. As i said they give them the little jobs they hate doing, but there isn't a hatrid between them like the TA/Squaddys.

Seriously, there is no way I am ever going to lower myself to be PCSO, I don't particularly want to be someone who is deluded in their own high sense of grandeur. They are in the same league as Traffic Wardens.

I kid you not, they are lazy good-for-nothing busybodies, I ALWAYS without fail see both of the ones in Coventry city centre chillaxing in Starbucks cafe at 11am. Then I see them in Subway at 1pm.
