Not true.
The sperm 'contained' in precum is actually sperm remaining in the urethra/vas, which is a very small amount. If it was recently before sex, those sperm are still viable and present (in small number).
If you haven't ejaculated in a few days (for instance) the remaining sperm would not be viable, as precum is not a good medium for them anyway. Urination also tends to kill them off (from the urethra, not the vas) due to ph.
Failure in the withdrawal (oops) method is actually cited as being because of slip ups, and in theory if performed correctly is no less reliable then condoms (which bare in mind are only 95-98% reliable) if not then more so. I can think of quite a few occasions where condoms have split (not regularly enough to be operator error) and true you do notice it feels nicer, but thats the only real clue.
So in theory, pulling out with plenty of time is just about as safe as any other male contraceptive technique (female ones are just better, live with it girls!). Having had a wank before, I'd only worry too much if we're talking an hour or so and you hadn't pissed since then.

Err. The rythm method is about working out when "safe" periods in her cycle are.
He's talking about withdrawal.
Pre-ejaculate CAN contain sperm, just not many. One however, is enough.
Withdrawal has a 24% failure rate on average. 31% in teenagers.*

Which again leads to my standpoint. The urethra is not a happy environment for sperm, and precum does not innately carry sperm. Ergo, if you have pissed since you last came, it is very highly unlikely to contain sperm.
And yes, /just/ one sperm can fertilise an egg, but the trip up the fallopian tubes is a form of selection. The reason we ejaculate with some force is to send it up there (we also produce more if its the first time we've had sex with that person, to 'flush' competitor sperm, plus the reason for the glans is to 'scrape' out other sperm. NB Both most accepted and plausible /theories/). A feeble sperm with the deleterious effects of existing in an unsuitable environment is even less likely to be able to reach the egg. Not to mention the possibility of impaired fusion.
Whilst I'm not condoning neglecting condoms, what I'm getting at is it's not quite what they lead you to believe (most kids get told pre-cum and cum are basically the same, and both will get the woman pregnant just as efficiently).

Proves it to an extent. Also serves to highlight the dangers of focusing too closely on a single aspect of a biological process.
The fact is that one in four couples who practice withdrawal as their method of contraception land up with a pregnancy within 12 months.
I'm just hypothesising but I'd bet on most of them having NOT gone for a wank immediately prior to the act of copulation.
Them tadpoles got up there somehow.
