Preparing and Installing a New Battery Help?

Hi, i have just received my new battery and reading the instructions it says they recommend to charge before i use it, but i only have car chargers with 12/6v switch.

Is it necessary to charge it ?

Also i just need some reassurance on what i doing !

(Battery comes with short sealed tube attached, and a spare, longer unsealed tube)
- Remove tube attached (short sealed)
- Fill with acid
- Sit for 1/2 hour
- Top up if needed
- Put long unsealed tube on
- Charge
- Install

Does that sound correct ?

Whatever your bike is usually 12v unless its a old bike, but your battery will correspond with it, i used a car charger on mine in 12v and it was fine. And you should really charge it.

So open up the top caps, fill em all up (use gloves if you can) as altho its low strength its still sulphuric acid.
I didnt let mine sit, put tube on, this is so the fumes come out as boiling acid makes fumes, put on bike. that easy

Its a 6v battery, the car charger i have has a 6v option on so hopefuly that should be fine.

Does the unsealed tube need to be so long, what length should it be ?

then make sure its on the 6v setting of course.
and the tube dosnt matter, its just to let it breathe whilst charging, use the long one while charging, and cut it down when putting on bike.
altho i think mine got lost somehow, wind must of nabbed it

just one last thing!

Have i bought the correct acid for the battery, there was only one type available on busters (here)

Do i have to do anything to it first ? Or just pour in as it is ?

Thats right,
same strength for all batterys these days.
Just pour it in as is, as i said be careful of getting it on skin as its a acid!

Make sure you get the polarity right.
Normally
The battery terminal marked + will go to a red wire and the - to a black but check with the manual.
Spread Vaseline liberally on the terminals before tightening to stop them crudding up
