Simple one this one, are 4-stroke engines restricted from the manufacturer?

Not usually (on the smaller bikes at least). They don't produce enough power to be over the 14.5hp or whatever it is that you're allowed on a CBT.

Yours definitely won't be restricted, as being 100cc it doesn't count as a moped.

Obviously some bikes (600s, 1000s, etc) are restricted to 33bhp, or just restricted by law in some countries Thumbs Up

not that simple with little to go by.

my zx7r and 636's are not.

if 125 then i should imagine they will be restrited if they had to be.

Disagree, most of the newer 4 stroke 125's are designed to make 14.6bhp, nothing more. There is nothing to derestrict them, that's all the power they make.

Can you name a 4t 125 that is capable of producing more than the learner legal limit (in standard form at least)?

The old Honda CB125T was rated at 16.5bhp. It revved to 11000rpm easily and was as fast as the two strokes like the RD125 or GT125 of the day.

I have heard things about the new Yamaha Minerelli 125 4T unit as used in the YZF125R etc. It's a liquid cooled DOHC 4valve engine that seems a bit over the top design and cost to build wise for just 14.6bhp. I'm sure i read that it could have made around 20bhp if required to do so.
