Ebay bike listing joker...

Just got sent this email, note it was not sent through ebay.

Hello,

I would like to buy this item, but I need some form of sales contract to be sure that I am the only buyer of the item and to cover our deal even if it's going through ebay's auction system. Sorry to be this leery but there are so many fake listings these days. I'm a new member and I've just been burnt... I have a sales contract prepared so I can send it to you and look at it and tell me if it is OK. How would you like payment and will you ship insured?

Politely informed him that turning up with some money and riding it away is about as safe and simple as it gets. Then asked him to either contact me through ebay or bugger off. Don't think I'll be getting a reply....

Wouldn't be surprised if it's just a bill of sale/receipt... But if it's not, be interesting for the laughs!

It sounds like he is a solicitor or a lawyer and he's trying to tie you down to a deal.

I would remind him that the first customer with the cash gets it, as it aint sold till it's paid for, even if he has clicked the "buy it now" button.

The above two pretty much nail my worries tbh! Who in their right mind would buy a cheap bike then expect it shipped to them without looking at it?

Just a bit of a nob, not worried, it has 34 watchers, 5 offers, and a guy coming from Durham with £850 on sunday! Think it's sold!

Bit gutted I can't take it for another spin before it goes though.

Sounds like that car scam they did on The Real Hustle, when they made the guy sign over the contract of ownership. I think it seems once you'd sign it and send it back he'd be sending the authorities around for his bike
