tough decision, help required please.

Hi all,

I currently own a cbr1000f which is my first big bike but have been made a solid offer of £1175 for it.

do i:

1, sell the cbr and change bikes (i've seen a tl1000 or a zzr1100 both of which are in fantastic condition and in my price range)

2, keep the cbr as i'm now used to it after owning it for about 9 months.

any advice greatly appreciated

The zzr1100 sounds interesting. If you've had it 9 months its worth speaking with your insurance company and seeing how much they would insure the others with - and then compare it with the market.

Obviously 9 months in your near to a years no claims so worth trying to keep it if you can.

Honest answer is depends if you want a swap, you'll get used to a different bike fairly quickly, if its private and you can't test ride it try and find a dealer with one and see if you can get out on a test ride, you'll at least get a good idea of how it feels etc.

That seems like decent money.
The TL is going to be a bit sportier (lighter, more modern handling, probably a bit fresher feeling engine), while the ZZR is going to have even more 'go' and be a bit better for doing distance, etc.

No claims is a good point.

What's wrong with the CBR? It is a good price your are being offered, considering you paid £800, but if it's ticking all your boxes and you're used to it, you might as well keep it.

If you just fancy a change, then you'd probably feel more at home on the ZZR.

No-one has asked the all important question, TL1000R or TL1000s? If I was you, I'd go for the TL, way lighter, better handling and a decent revving engine make these bikes very under-rated.

The CBR1000 is very long in the tooth now and, despite handling OK for an old bus, you'd really notice the difference on a TL.
