hi
i have a derbi senda sm 50 and was wondering how to wheelie it, ive looked at some youtube videos and that sort of thing but from there and its not working out.

This is what i attempt to do, what i do is set of to about 5mph or a bit more to the biting point of the clutch then i give it some rev maybe like 8000-9000 then let go of the clutch...... all it does is set of normally but as if i just pulled the gas back with out the clutch at all (just bites and doesnt pull the front up) am i doing something wrong, is there a better method, do i not have any idea, am i destroying my clutch/bike..... you tell me

thanks for any help

Have you tried attaching a plank of wood about 3 metres long to the seat so you can sit really far back and then just let gravity take over Thinking Laughing

Joking aside you are going to have to do it with your body weight by hanging RIGHT off the back as I'm not sure engine power would do the job Laughing Why don't you just wait 'til you get a bigger bike?

Engine OFF and push..... Thats how most folks Wheel their bikes Wink Laughing

But why do you want to wheelie it ? 2 wheels are so much safer Thumbs Up

Engine power has nothing to do with the ability to wheelie, or how do they do it on a push bike........
Seen plenty of 50cc bikes loop right over in my time..... Sick

Best way I know of breaking a little bike I know other than dropping it under a bus.

its probably got the same power as my ex's RXS100 (ish). it wheelied, but took a bit of effort with a 15 stone cock on the back.

sit far back in the seat, go along at about walking pace, clutch in, rev the shit out of it, dump the clutch, and at the same time yank up on the bars.

i can carry it for about 10 meters on the RXS Sad GSXR works much better.

when i tried dumping the clutch on my bike all it did was lurch forward violently, pull my arms as if they were leaving their sockets and nearly throw me off.

does that sound about right? was a 500cc

heres a vid, although you cant see anything other than the takeoff and landing before i smashed into a hedge on a blind corner, you can hear how the engine is revving. should be similar on a 50 as long as you sit back and yank the bars.

There is a technique to this, that i know Laughing
but as i dont condone doing it, as it does indeed knacker sprockets something chronic on small bikes like this, ill save you the hassle and tell you not to.

You need to clutch it from a near standstill on Sendas, and you gotta get it real high too because obviously it doesn't have the power to keep it up. Thumbs Up

Oh and cover the back brake. Wink

Maybe i will chip in then,
the way i do it is, stand on the back pegs,
roll along in 1st (can do it in second as well) hold it just below where the powerband kicks in, start putting more throttle in whilst bouncing up the front.
Works for me.

I might be in the minority in thinking that this kinda behaviour is moronic.

I have to wonder what motivates anyone to want to ride a motorcycle on one wheel.

It's one thing doing it on a proper stunting bikes, but on a 50cc ped, it's so chavvish its embarrassing.

If you want to throw a bike around, go do some trailing, etc.

On a big bike, or a trail bike, etc, a wheelie looks graceful. On a small ped, it looks deformed - all the glamour of a disabled baby dribbling vomit.

Mate owns a Derbi Senda and he fully revs it and lets the clutch out, does a mini wheelie. Very Happy

So if you saw lets say a lad on a senda 50 doing a slow controlled wheelie you'd say it looks chavvish and embarrassing?

"On a big bike a wheelie looks graceful", hang on, id rather watch someone fail a wheelie on a 50 rather than a 600, its much more dangerous on a 600 and a lot easier to do sketchy jerky power wheelies, which makes it all the more cringe worthy to watch.

I hope you are.

When I had a 50 it was with the full realisation that I had the least powerful motor vehicle to ever utilise the Queens highway. This in no way affected my ability to have fun or to fully abuse my new found freedom. I fell off most weeks but this was usually accompanied by laughter. I rode on BMX tracks, took shortcuts through subways, rode over waste ground, in fact, anywhere I felt like. I tried wheelies, skids, endos, and a whole range of weird and wonderful stunts that a teenage mind makes up. I learned to enjoy riding. 25 years later I still do dumb stuff, then again, I still enjoy riding.

Sorry, I'm not taking the piss but that just sounds SO lame Laughing I'm just imagining him doing it off the lights when there's a gaggle of school girls waiting to cross; does his head snap back as he does it?

You know that a Senda isn't a twist n go step through, it's a proper motorbike with a 50cc engine?

I was gonna say that hah.

I havent even tried to wheelie my bike, and ive been riding for a near a year now.
I just reckon i will fail at it and probs smash my bike up.
I would look like a right dickhead.

But tbh i think they look good but TZR's have all the weight on the front end, just like the senda so it will be really hard to keep up.

I used to drop the clutch in 1st gear on my rs50.

go about 10 mph, clutch right in, basicly max revs and dropped clutch and pulled on the bars, it had 70cc kit in.

Now I've done on my old bandit 1200 and R6's mate it's worth just waiting you don't learn anything doing it on a 50, but fair play it looks funny/good lol Mr. Green
