TO put a front wheel in backward with the tyre running the right way, some clowns put the tyre on my bike the wrong way and I need to take it somewhere to put it right but dont have any other transport.

if it will go in backwards ? your notgonna have any front brake so thats very dangerous for a start, if it were me and it was a few miles i'd either walk or used public transport, failing that i'd phone a few friends till one will help out.

but really just put the wheel in the right way and ride carefully.

I'd rather put the wheel on the correct way and run the tyre backwards. The main reason direction of rotation is put on the tyre to make sure the tread pattern clears water away rather than gathering it so if it's not wet just ride it.

As far as I am aware the tyre only has a directional pattern to disperse water. I don't think riding it with the tyre on the wrong way will cause any harm. Just don't ride to the garage in the wet when you get it sorted.

I'm with Geri; I often run tyres the wrong way around when racing (treaded, not slick); but would never run the wheel the wrong way around.
One time some people changing my front wheel had tried to do it the wrong way around on the r6; it didn't fit at all, basically.

This might be really a really stupid question ... why don't you get the tyre put on the right way round?

As for the direction of running being to do with water dispersal ... explain how some tyres have the vee pointing down and others the vee pointing up ... then you look at others which look as though the designer has just drawn a few curves here and there.

Bike tyres don't suffer from aquaplaning as much as car tyres do, since they are curved from side to side and have a very narrow footprint ... the flatter and wider a tyre is the greater chance of it happening ... although it can still happen.

All the best ... Barry

i often wonder about this V shape to the tread pattern it's almost as if it would/should push water to the middle ?

No need for language like that ... now I completely understand Laughing

Take it you don't have a mate with tyre levers who could do it for you ... I would offer but I'm up in Glasgow.

Because if a circuit has mostly rights or mostly lefts you'll 'use up' one side of the tyre first. Turn it round and you get your moneys worth out of the other side.

I'd rather have the front brake working than the tread the wrong way around.
