Insurance is messed up!

Why can i insure in my current situation:

same year produced bikes (k3), same value, etc. only variable the bike.

gsxr 600 - £482
gsxr 750 - £555
gsxr 1000 - £1081
gsxr 1300 - £1031


it makes no sence! unless they found some evidence gsxr1000 riders are ALOT more liable to claim through insurance. (wich maybe they are)

cheaper for me to insure a busa than a gsxr1000 for god sake! (the one i want)

What makes less sence is i can insure a 2005 zx10r for £526!!

People tend to rider GSXR1k's stupider than GSXR1300, they're different in their nature.

i'd agree with Chriss, busa's are touring bikes not out and out sports, i'd sway towards sports bikes being ridden by loons 90% of the time which must increase the chance of an accident.

also the gixxer thou is likely to me more attractive to thieves

Why pay a grand to insure a GSXR1000, the 750 is half the price and just as good on the road and just as quick (so is the 600) unless you're a straight line monkey, then you'd be better off with the 'Busa anyway.

It's all about insurance history.

The GSXR1000 has been out for about 8 years and lots have been sold, therefore lots have been stolen, lots have been crashed and lots have been claimed for. The ZX10 sold in much smaller numbers and therefore has less history.

When the GSXR1000 came out, it was cheaper for me to insure it over a 1999 Fireblade, because the Blade had been out since 1992 and has a long insurance history.
